Look at it this way Newf, if you had someone walk into your store and the first thing they said was, “I have a hundred employees and I’m here to look at phones” now you’d get all soft and squishy thinking your going to sell him 100 phones. But in reality you jumped to conclusions and he’s only buying one for himself. Now, would you go around town and tell everyone what an asshole this guy is. I don’t think you would, cause it wouldn’t be good for business.

I really don’t know what happened, Alberta had Danny’s back at one time, but now he seems to be standing on the rock all by himself.

   

you may think most people have dropped it but they haven't and i know that first hand having lived in alberta for 6 years... people often mistake being kind for being weak or stupid.. and it's irritating. and I'm not saying all people are like that but I've had more then my fair share of it just because i'm from here.

Well in the last 5 years I havent met anyone with that attitude and Ive worked with nothing but easterners,no choice as they have pretty well taken over the pipeline industry,the mines and allmost every driller at work in Nunavut is from the Maramichi.

In fact I used to get "Were only here to help build Alberta me bye" all the time,thats with about 5 different companies and 50 crews of 20 or so.I was the only one who had lived here more than 5 years,a minority in my own province if your going to seperate us into provinces.

All my best friends are from the east,all but one I met within the last 5 years.
Aside from friendly ribbing, I never hear the old east/west thing in person anymore.

But then again you were in Red Deer,the last bastion of the old redneck rigpig where old ways die hard and a good fistfight in the alley after closing time meant you had a good night and probably still does.

   

Danny Williams is awesome... a great Canadian.. at least he has the balls to stand up to Stevie aka. baby bush.... we will see how the newfies kick his ass in the next election... there wont be a tory elected in Newfoundland... God Bless em...

Most of us like Newfies just fine. None of the ones I met in Ft. McMurray ever gave me any problems. I actually prefer them to some of the local redneck specimens in Alberta who've made places like (for example) Edmonton intolerable for normal people to even visit anymore. But Danny Williams is a genuine nutjob and a traitor to the cause. Apparently taking down Paul McCartney and his one-legged ex-wife on the Larry King Show inflated his head too much and has convinced him that he walks on water. Williams is just another classic example of the internal urges towards fratricidal infighting that have cursed Conservatives in this country for a hundred years. As much as I literally detest the Liberals for all the rotten things that they've done to Canada the one thing they can't be accused of is disloyalty to their overall cause. Too bad that there's way too many Conservatives, ranging from Danny Williams to Scott Brison to Keith Martin to Belinda Stronach, who can't say the same thing.
