'Critics describe the event as a symbolic and meaningless gesture.'

That's what I'm saying. This does fuck all for the environment. It's just a facile way for misguided activists to feel as though they've made an impact.

I bet you anything the idea for this shennanigen was cannabis-inspired.

I'm turning on all my lights just to cancel out my neighbour.

I'm turning on every light and appliance, and my garage door will be opening and closing nonstop for an hour !

today is laundry day! I think it can wait until tonight. :P

 Uh huh.

And you wish to accomplish what?

Take the stick out of your butt, it's obviously a joke.

I think we've determined previously where your sense of humour is at.

Don't quit your day job for a stint at Yuk Yuks anytime soon.

I'm watching hockey so forget it!

After what happened in Calgary last year, your not the only one.

I'm going to help out a little bit. At 8 my TV will be shut off, (Flame's / Wild game)

Your sense of humour continues to be inspiring... and simply brilliant too. Eight year olds will have a new comedy icon to mimic at recess...

Anyway, that's about as close as I'll go to banning for today. You may continue if you wish.

I forgot what happened in Calgary last year, enlighten me please?

I am not going to participate either. I think it is bullshit. I rather have everyone recycle their garbage every day and stop throwing stuff out the window of the car than sit in the dark for an hour for no reason.

Alta_redneck @ Sat Mar 28, 2009 10:55 am

Consumption in Calgary went up something like 12% more than an average night.

12% is just a guess, but i think it's close. :D

truck race on if it stops raining, so screw that noise :)

Strutz @ Sat Mar 28, 2009 11:49 am

Nice gesture but really no different from experiencing any power outage.

You want to make an impact? How about for one hour all engines in all vehicles must be turned off. One hour with no fuel consumption or fuel emissions. Will never happen of course but would be much more impressive than just turning off the lights, etc.
