"Karzai's government is seen as corrupt and venal;"
Wow! Amazing that a man who worked for oil juggernaut Unocal would run a corrupt government.
Bombings in Pakistan seem to be well timed too. Just when Nato has been asking for more soldiers and have been denied a suicide bomber blows up 60 Pakistani soldiers. That might mobilize the army to attack those groups along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.
"Almost all war correspondents currently reporting from Afghanistan agree with the assessment that battlefield victory is becoming almost irrelevant."
This is one of many great points in this article which doesn’t seem to sink into some of the thicker skulls here in the west.
This may have been the Indian offical interveiwed on Radio 1 the other day. He asked why would the school have been bombed if it was a known terrorist camp. Arrests could have been made and innocent lives not lost.
Obviously it had more dramatic affect with the bombing. One would ask, WHY would NATO/USA want the Indian & Pakistan people to be alienated. I think franklee8 answered it the best.
