The dollar is overvalued and will soon drop further? I suggest taking a look at the effect of the Euro after the Frogs and Dutch said "non" and "nee," respectively. Also, the talk has already begun in the German Economic Intelligensia of a withdrawal from the Euro and a return to the mark. Economic growth is stagnant in the Eurozone, inflation is on the rise, and the Brits aren't going to come along to help it out. I can't quite see how the Euro is a more secure currency right now. Drops 10% in 3 days...doesn't sound so good, especially considering the the dollar is the globe's base currency and its shift is to be expected with the twin deficits, which are showing signs of a severe contraction as we speak...a lot of people are going to be VERY disappointed with how the "mighty" Euro plays out over the next 2-4 years...I suggest Canada tread VERY cautiously on this topic...

Tread very cautiously is good advice. Our future is tied directly to the US and we will have stronger ties as time moves along. If we Canadians are pleased with our economy and standard of living stick with the team that got you there and that kind hearts is the USA.

I always looked at Canada being a small part of the greater whole, being North America. Am in the US as much as possible and feel totally comfortable with the folks down there. California, New York or Toronto is all the same to me. This way I don't have to fret and stew as many people do around here. Can't be very good mental health.

I agree with you! Keeping Canada completely soveriegn means Canadians have restricted movement and makes our country little more than the puny third party in the North Atlantic community!

You're forgetting one thing: don't assume the EU would want canada. Canada represents yet another failed socialist state, with little to no concept of addressing reality.

Granted, from your view, misery loves company, but the EU really needs to face some hard facts.

Canada simply might not be welcomed.

Canada will still be in trade with the Americans. As we know, the USA and EU are already in meetings discussing the free trade between themselves. We will still be selling cattle to one , who in return will sell cattle to us. The cow will just see more scenery in the new pact.
