Second, perhaps Mr. Julian has asked the wrong question. Perhaps the question is not whether they are ‘giving’ away the water, but rather that they are willing to enter into the trade of our water. There is no price which could be considered acceptable to the people of Canada and that ought to be addressed. Why does he say, ‘these are discussions that we have from time to time’? Why would we have discussion about water? Why is he attempting to diminish the importance of this issue? His tone is reminiscent of the ‘don’t worry your pretty little head about this, it’s too complicated for you’ attitude of decades past. This type of condescending language has no place in government and certainly not around an issue of this magnitude.
Third Mr. Mackay has declared that, ‘there are so many factual mistakes in that question, I do not even know where to start’ ....may I request that he find a place to start. He can begin in the middle and work his way in either direction as long as he covers the entire issue. What are the mistakes in the question?
The people of Canada are tiring very quickly of the double-speak and rude rhetoric being spun as an answer to direct questions. We have been told that there is no North American Union being planned (when it clearly is), that the Security and Prosperity Agreement is just an innocent trade deal (which it clearly is not), however Canadians are well aware that these deals are being made without our consent. It matters not if one is wearing a tinfoil hat, clown costume, digging ditches or living on a fixed income struggling to make ends meet, we all hear the same song! The nation is being sold, traded or given away and has been since the first Free Trade which we know was not fair!

Right on Catherine! They need calling on their divesionary tactics and mud slinging every time. Thanks for being the backbone and moral compass the MSM seem to have misplaced. I won't hold my breath on a answer, but it needs doing, regardless.

What an interesting statement by McKay:

"there is absolutely no indication whatsoever that we will be giving anything away."

The key word in the above statement is indication. By using the word indication McKay leaves it open that Canada may in fact put Canada's water up for sale. It's pretty slippery wording in my opinion. In the future, when the Conservatives sell off our water and he is called upon to relive his statements he can say "well at the time that I said that we had no indications that we would put water on the table."

Too bad Julien didn't reply to Mackay " If you would remove your "peril sensitive
eye-glasses" you would stop seeing tinfoil hats on people."

I think it is very revealing to see the choice of words used by Mackay as well as
his derogatory remarks. More smokescreen, more diversions, but the fact that
the question was raised at all is a significant step!

As an add on to your comments on the wording of McKay’s statement, he can also claim that we aren’t “giving” the water away, we’re selling it.

Why should anyone trust McKay anway? Even a signed contract to him is breakable.(the Orchard affair)

In case you haven't already, click on the link above to read the rest of the article,
and you will see that I made reference to Mackay's deal/contract with Orchard. I
didn't hold anything back in this opportunity! As for the word give meaning sell,
I also rephrased the question to make it clearer, (last paragraph) We don't want
to hear the usual I said this but meant that, or oops I misspoke!

Aren't tinfoil hats standard Conservative attire when in caucus?

Given their policies, I'd have to concede that the tin hats would make their communications with the mother ship somewhat easier.

I mean tea leaves and tarots are so out of style.

Given the tendencies of the current administration to use the "big lie" in dealing with opposition to their de facto strategy , why would anything other than the condescending reply given to a direct question even be expected?

Expect more.

yeah

More lies, deceit and treachery.

For once, I believe they were telling the truth.

You may note the referance to the "North American Future 2005 Project".
Perhaps someone will give the results from this meeting in Calgary tomorrow.
Here's some details! Wonder if the Calgary or National media will be there?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APRIL 26, 2007

NDP MP OVERSEES CALGARY NORTH AMERICAN
FUTURE 2025 PROJECT MEETING

Canadians deserve to know what’s going on behind these closed-doors: NDP

CALGARY – NDP International Trade critic Peter Julian (Burnaby-New
Westminster) will be in Calgary tomorrow to attend the close-door meeting to
discuss the North American Future 2025 Project.

His trip comes after a leaked document indicated the agenda topics and
location of the meeting. The initiative is being led by the U.S.-based Center
for Strategic and International Studies, the Conference Board of Canada and
the Mexican Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas. It completes a
series of “closed-door meetings” on North American integration with
government officials dealing with a number of highly contentious issues
including bulk water exports, a joint security perimeter, and a continental
energy and resource pact.

“Access to water is a fundamental right and therefore should not be treated
as a commodity in trade agreements,” said Julian. “We are calling on the
Canadian government to pull out of these talks.”

This just occured to me, why don't we report this stuff to Crime Stoppers? I sent
an email to the CTV crime reporter in Calgary and asked if the Crime of the
Century could be underreported by mainstream news? I included the press
release from the NDP.

What would happen if hundreds or thousands of us called crimestoppers on this
sovereignty issue?
