Canadians are particularly at risk not just due to our physical proximity to
the USA, but as a result of the unconstitutional agreements and arrangements
being implemented secretly and/or administratively such as the Security and
Prosperity Partnership Agreement, the Smart Border Plan, and others, which
integrate Canada with the United States of America.

Further, Canada’s own antiterrorist legislation was enacted under a veil of
panic arising out of a terrible act in a foreign country, the Unites States of
America, which act to date has been inadequately investigated as to its
real cause , and which cause may even be rooted in some of the proponents of
torture legislation. Citizens have a right to know the truth.

This new US Bill finalizes the elimination of all citizen rights in the USA.
Canada must distance itself from such law.

On behalf of all Canadians, the Canadian Action Party/ Parti action
canadienne demands that our government :

1.affirm our Rule of Law, and

2. assure Canadians that no such legislation will be tolerated in Canada, and

3. assert that any attempt by President Bush to arrest or detain any Canadian
under this new Bill anywhere in the world will not be tolerated.

With grave concern,

I'd be interested to know what the "NEW" government will have to say about this?

This morning I caught a bit of Stockwell Day being questioned re the Maher Arar report and before most of his comments he would say "the government...the "new" government..." blah blah blah. "The "new" government..." It was rather terrifying to watch this cult like agenda playing out before my eyes. I will be signing all of my correspondence to the "new government" from: "the new anti-new government Canadian citizen."

I agree with you Catherine, this piece of US legislation should be condemned. We should pressure our "new" government to not allow any aspect of that legislation to affect Canadians.

Good comment 4Canada.

No one should hold their breath waiting for our "new Government" to condemn this bill. Rather, we should expect Harpie to come out with a statement expressing his satisfaction that this is a "measured" bill. Sort of like the "measure" obliteration of Lebanon.

Harper will use his immense power as a minority government with almost no popular support to pass a similar bill here in Canada. Thank goodness we have a democracy, otherwise Harper would not be our glorious dictator.
