But Energuide has had its budget slashed by $227 million over the next five years. Groups that run the program say it will be a shadow of its former self and a lot fewer people will be able to take advantage of it

There's also a similar Energuide program for low-income households. Its entire budget of more than $550 million is cut, meaning that program is now gone.

What a loser (or shithead) for getting rid of Energuide,
that was one hell of a good programme.

Well every little bit helped. Energuide brought attention
to that for the common person.

I know when I was freezer shopping the "Energuide"
stickers on the freezers I was looking at helped, it
showed how much each particular freezer uses in energy.

It was also a good programme for people to update their
homes to be more energy efficient (better windows, door
frames, insulation etc) and thereby using less electricity
to run and saving home owner on energy bill.

It is a shame it is being cut back so much.

I guess the Harper and Co. sat around and tried to figure out the dumbest thing they could possibly do for Canadians. They like to go on about letting Canadians have some choice in how government money is spent, such as their pathetic attempt at child care support.

We live in a cold country where we know energy costs will skyrocket in the years to come, as we sell most of our oil and natural gas to the Americans. So Harper decides to remove all incentives to reduce home heating costs and therefore emissions.

We are in a situation of the blind leading the dumb.
Canadians are truly ignorant for not making the environment a major issue in the last few elections; the Dumb. Governments are totally unqualified to lead the electorate through these times because they still consider the old capitalist endless growth economy to be valid. (The Blind) The growth economy depends on endless cheap energy. The growth economy is dead.

The only option is to ignore these fools and start doing what we can on our own for are own families and communities.
