Western Canada has become alienated to eastern Canada. Big business's have been twarted away from the west by the east. Toyota had considered a plant on the west coast. They were advised if they were to build the plant, it would be only where it is now. A lot of federal money has been spent as investment in the employment of eastern Canadians. The Kenworth plant for example. The Americans closed this plant in Quebec due to union demands. The provincal and federal dollars got the Americans to open it again. The $$$ invested would have been enough for the hundred or so employed to retire for life. The softwood dispute would not even make headlines if only BC was envolved. Alberta has been in the lows before and not much help ever received from Ottawa.

Ah ah ah. It is actually more like this:
Critically analyzing U.S. policies (both economical and political)= good
Questioning the privileged place certain provinces have within the Confederation = good or bad, as many here have different opinions
Bashing the U.S. and Americans = funny in the sense that some here type before they think

Couple of questions:
1) How much has Alberta received in equalization payments back before?
2) Why can't people realize Alberta already gives a considerable amount in equalization payments (over $11 billion)?
3) I heard someone in a similar comment mention co-ops as a means of "nationalizing" oil. Any links or info on this?
4) Why must we nationalize oil? Give more power and money to the government in affairs that are clearly provinical? Why not nationalize the shirt industry? Everyone needs shirts, especially in Canada. Why not nationalize the agricultural industry? Everyone needs food.
The point with this question containing multiple of questions is that just because a certain industry generates large amounts of revenue, doesn't necessarily mean the government needs to start controlling it.
5) Not really in criticizing anyone here, but how could you try to distribute oil across Canada at equal prices? Wouldn't you have to force the oil industry to sell oil and gas to the rest of Canada at cheaper rates? If so, does this not violate NAFTA?
