Publisher Elizabeth Margaris said that Mark Tushingham, whose day job is as an Environment Canada scientist, was ordered not to appear at the National Press Club to give a speech discussing his science fiction story about global warming in the not-too-distant future.
"He got a directive from the department, cautioning him not to come to this meeting today," said Margaris of DreamCatcher Publishers.
"So I guess we're being stifled. This is incredible, I've never heard of such a thing," she said.

On "Politics" Thursday, the media guests were talking about the "control" that Harper is trying to keep over his MPs and well EVERYTHING. At a press conference to announce his accountability act he controlled that everyone had to line up for questions one at a time then asked someone seated to pose a question. Then the lineup refused to let him do that. He lost control so took one question in English and one in French turned on his heel and left.
Greg Weston from the Ottawa Sun said that he is getting calls from MPs saying they are not happy and James Travers said when you start disiplining bureaucrats that's when the "brown envelopes" start arriving.
I think the guy is going to implode frankly.
