I agree. Does anyone know if the NDP, CAP, the Greens, or any other officially recognized political party have a policy that actually states that it supports accepting draft dodgers from the US?

I want to vote for one of them since the Liberals (we need to take that name away from them as they only way that they are liberal these days is that they liberally sell out the country to foreign interests or liberally squander tax payers money). No friggin way I'll vote for Harper, althought isn't he just so darn cute in a Brain Mulroney sorta way.

This won't be an election issued in the US because the corporate media whores in the US won't let it be. Didn't the other main election contestant, John Kerry, support the war and state that the US needs more troops in Iraq?

Let them come, who wants to fight a war that Bush wanted in the first place ?

As I've said earlier, it isn't Bush's kids that are dying over there, his kids are safe and sound in the US.

Besides, it isn't the rich kids fighting, it's the poor, and they are even offering US citizenship if illegal immigrants agree to go over there and get all shot up.

What a way to become an American. In a body bag !! Medals and all !

You are right in that neither party in the US will bring this up as an election issue. Both Bush & Kerry however, support this. Just as Mel Hurtig pointed out that both men support the Space Defense Initiative, of which the Canadian Council of CEO's wants very badly to acquire a chunk of. As both the Liberals and the Conservatives support, and receive support from this CCCEO, electing either one of them will ensure that Canadian participation in SDI will be a slamdunk, just as deporting draft dodgers will be vigorously supported by both these parties. And voting for another party (Green or NDP) may not work unless either one of them can get enough seats, not to become the balance of power in a minority situation, but to eclipse the Libs and Cons, something that won't happen in this election. The reason I say they need this many seats is because I wouldn't put it past Paul & Stephen to form a coalition with each other in the event of a minority government scenario, in the interests of National Security and the Welfare of the Canadian People. The US draft, and Canada's refusal to harbour dodgers is a very good idea. Once ALL US citizens realise that no matter how rich they are, or how many connections they have, and that borders are shut to them, they will realise that there will be no escape from war duty and support for the imperialist agenda will accordingly surely drop. War is fine for the capitalists as long as their sons and daughters don't have to give their lives for the search for new markets. Now they'll change their tune. The draft? Bring it on baby.

Rick I might have agreed with you a few months ago, but I actually believe that the NDP could form the government, I actually believe they could get a majority and if more voters believed it and voted that way we would see it. I was watching a CPAC special with Goldhawk as host, most callers said they would vote NDP for the first time, as the Lib are proven liars and the cons are scary, that was the sentiment. I believe one caller said he would vote Harper, this really shocked me and I suspect it shocked the guests on the show.

People are really peeved and have seen the Mulroney years, and they know that Mulroney was behind the merger of the pc/ alliances, they also don't trust the Liberals not just because of the sponsorship but also the EI surplus issue, the gun registry, the infighting and appointing of high profile candidates in ridings and pushing out the old loyal liberals. Also note that the candidates themselves are jumping parties all over the place, so if they aren't even loyal why would the voter be...so the old vote like your parents did, just might change this election.

I actually suspect that the people who do vote will do so to get rid of Martin and vote NDP to change the political landscape completely!

From what I remember of the Mulroney re-election, there was no one I could talk to who was going to vote for the SOB. And he formed ANOTHER majority government. It seems that the popular vote is seldom actually reflected in the number of seats a party wins. Too bad, as I DO think the NDP can work some magic this time around. I have also been reading up on the Greens on Rabble.ca , and I might be wavering some, between Green and the New Democrats. If Martin or Harper does form a minority, I hope that the agreement Manley signed about the draft dodgers gets trotted out into the public eye, again and again, by the Opposition (and I do not mean Harper if Martin gets in, or Martin if Harper gets in)--- RickW

You mean "Trial by Fire"? Somehow that just doesn't fit with Bush's words when the planes flew into the WTC, which were (more of less): "Everything's OK my fellow American. Don't quit shopping".
