Of course the Feds are not breaking the law! They are breaking a PROMISE! There is nothing of substance to take to court.

But then, this is a government with two faces, and forked tongues in each:

Yup this is certainly an example of the leadership we have come to know - its
not the kind we should be seeking but it is what we have been getting-

Take us to court - not a problem, after all who's money is used in these court
cases; regardless of who wins, we all lose! Same thing as Canada taking the US
before the WTO; so what, it is more of the strategy to keep people busy, waste
our money and make us believe they are doing something.

Real leadership, diplomacy and commitment to the nation, would stand up for
what is right for all people. Rather than do the research and make a decision,
avoid decisions and let the courts decide; but we didn't elect the judges, did we?

Well, the Conservative's slogan last election was "Expect more."

And sure as the sun rises, we got it.

More of the same BS as under Lyin' Brian.

It's the only promise they kept.

Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald said to the media yesterday, "Shaking hands used to mean something in Canada." If the PM shook hands on the deal, then it is a legal and binding contract in Canada. It's not a promise, it's a *contract*.

That is all that is required in court, someone who saw them shake hands on the deal. The PM is then FUBAR, not to mention looking like a whiny child.

Yes indeed...if my memory serves me correctly, a contract is valid when there is
an offer, acceptance and consideration....

Acceptance would be the handshake...
Consideration can be money, but it can also be trade or perhaps votes which
were given in good faith.

But you know their argument: it was the Liberals that did it!!!!

Harper wants this to be taken to court so that it will disappear from public discourse. You know the strategy: we can't talk about it because it is before the courts.

Harper can't be trusted.

You are welcome. The link to the actual signed agreement contained in the article sure looks like a contract. Admittably I'm no expert, but I think Geoff Regan has it right:

"Unfortunately, since tabling the budget on March 19, 2007, the Conservative government’s approach has been to try to confuse the situation, deny their betrayal and intimidate the provinces into submission with threats of lawsuits".

I think few Nova Scotians are under any allusions as to who is lying in this case. I hope the fallout extends beyond the Maritimes.
