Your thoughts? Especially on the big twist at the end?

Scape @ Sun Nov 25, 2007 7:20 am

I'll watch it today. Heard it's good thou.

SPOILER

Do you mean the tub Cylon predicting Starbuck to be humanity's destroyer, not saviour? Highlight to read.

xerxes @ Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:26 am

Yes, that is what I meant.

Dayseed @ Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:34 am

Well, it would make sense. If the new Cylons want to destroy the humans and the old Cylons were looking to simply evolve, the prophecy from the old tub Cylon certainly explains why the new Cylons would tell a lie to you-know-who about a destiny to get you-know-who to fulfill that destiny and the new Cylons achieve their goal!

That was one awesome sentence.

Contrived. I found it everything I had hoped it would be and somehow still found it rang hollow. Not the story thread but the whole premise of the final battle scene and Apollo's command leadership dilemma. Just to see the Shaw character made it worthwhile however, that and the lesbian cylon thread. That was a nice touch I thought along with at last seeing the old toasters once again.

I somewhat agree. Most of the two hours seemed to be a paean to fans of the original series. Still, if filled a BSG void at least until March or whenever season 4 is supposed to start.

I just got finished watching it and I felt it was a waste of time... the whole "woman struggles with emotions while trying to maintain professional appearances" gig has already been done with Starbuck and didn't seem to add anything to the depth of the story.

I never liked Cain and I liked her even less after this... the "Razor" analogy was pretty lame.

Anyway, I loved the "gaurdians" or whoever the Cylons were with the tinny robot voices - that one cockpit scene kicked ass for the voices alone.

Only real benefit of watching it as far as plot development was hearing a little more about the "destiny"... of note is the fact that the hybrid used the same "this has happened before and will happen again" line that the Leoben Cylon used in the interrogation with Starbuck.

Scape @ Sun Nov 25, 2007 10:20 pm

Yeah, loved the 'By your command' line. Classic.

Thanos @ Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:14 pm

I thought it would have been told better if they'd given it two two-hour shows (just like the original pilot) rather than compressing it into one show. Too much probably ended up being cut out for time constraints.

I concur that it was good to see the classic Centurions and Raiders again. Nice touch.

xerxes @ Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:17 pm

If you're worried about what was cut out, apparently the DVD will be an extended cut just like the 2 Pegasus episodes on the Season 2 DVD's.

nice line, but I still like the line from the "Daleks" in Dr.Who.."Exterminate,Exterminate,Exterminate..."

Maybe we should not make these complex machines as they end up wanting to wipe us out

I think the problem in these alternate universes is that never had an Isaac Asimov to set out he rules that should govern artificial life.
