Canadian TV in the US?
Got a question: I have DISH Network Sattelite and I live in the Pacific Northwest of the US, is it AT ALL possible for me to (legally) recieve canadian channels, such as CBC or Global even if it means switching providers?
Zen is likely the guy to ask about that.

it is possible to get the cbc and much music atleast, so i'm sure you could get a few others if you paid extra and found the right cable compnay or sattelite, but really what's the point? they all show mostly american shows anyways.
The best bet is likely NewsWorld if you want to learn about Canada.

You also need to get Showcase on your dish, that way you can watch Trailer Park Boys, best show in Canada. Mind you that Corner Gas show on CBC is pretty damn funny too.

Regardless of wether or not it's worth it, how do I go about getting the channels (what provider offers them, the price if you have it, the name of the programming package it's in, a website would be helpful)

I've seen Starcoice satalite being advertised on US TV channels so maybe you can get it.
This is the Canadian website for them send them an email and ask if you can get it.
Starchoice website
Hope this helps
Ah, well, thnx anyway but, switching to a new provider, and dealing with international companies isn't worth it, lol. i was just curious.

this is so not true, have you not heard of the crtc and the laws that a certain % of content has to be Canadian.
plus CBC is worth it alone, they have such good content, and so different than stuff in the states. Good to see different viewpoints from CBC, BBC, ect.
Also Canadian News is just better, Actually I refuse to watch any american netowrk right now, the americna election propaganda is just retarded.
I know back during the Salt Lake olympics it was a big story in US and Canadian Media that a lot of americans were watching CBC's olympic coverage, because the american networks was so bad, so it can be done.

Do you (Canadaka), know how I could go about getting those channels, through an american provider? Don't go into some in-depth research project for me, though. I have to agree with you that Canadian news is better, they get a more in-depth perspective of a news story, it's actually like having a story read to you, not just journalism like "Ok, that happened that happen and it was all good. THE END.", lol.

Uh, that's on CTV
Rick Mercer's show is on CBC though. Monday night he had Pierre Burton giving a lesson on how to roll a joint.

You can get Trailer Park Boys on BBC America if you s=want. Mind you, it's in a bleeped form.
Is there any dialogue left? If they bleep everything it could be pretty hard to follow.

global is bunk anyways. just try to get cbc and listen to cbc readio because it's so much better than the tv part. I recommand ideas on cbc 1 which is a show excellently produced.
I love Ideas...did you hear that conservative guy on earlier this week. I can't remember his name, but he used to be part of Reagan's cabinet. He was speaking out, very clearly, against the Bush doctrine and the actions of the Bush regime since they took power.
