do you guys know an old american movie SHANE, made in about1960s.it is a knid of movie about american WESTEWARD MOVEMENT. i need some meterail about the movie and the backgeoud history. cause i want to write an essy about the characters or about the history.is anyone can find this for me? my great appriciation. by the way, i'm a chinese!

My dad grew up on a farm outside of Edmonton so he's kind of a country boy. I make fun of him whenever he switches it on. He watches it like twice a week lol.

   

It was a classic!!

   

sure it was, that is the reason i come here to ask for help. my writing english teacher who is a mid-aged bald american guy asks us write 100-essy.i really hate it! i'm sure i won't like it at all, although i haven't seen it! it is too old to understand.i'm not an american either!
what you guys feeling about it? would you give your comment or different views on it? i really need it.althought i don't like it at all,i have to write!

   

Shane was the first "adult" western, meaning that it was made for adult audiences, as opposed to the Hopalong Cassidy/Roy Rogers cowboy movies. I really liked Shane. I liked it so much that I rented it and showed it to my kids who were totally bored and walked out mid way through. Definitely not for kids. They won't understand the interplay.

Shane is almost a chic flic. There is a lot of sexual tension between Shane and the other guy's wife.

   

OH! raelly. it has plot about sex? gosh! the bald american guy wants to show it in the classroom . you know what, we only have 4boys in 32-person-class.what a shame!! do you means it is not suitable for kids or even student?

   

Don't get too excited. They didn't show naked people on screen back when they made it. No the movie is not about sex. It is about relationships. Still, there is this tension.

   

get it! what is your point of view? do you think we can't see it in the same we watch some commercial movies? how do i really catch its the real meaning?

   

I remember having to watch it in Grade 7... All I really remember is the way the kid was yelling, "Shane, Shane, don't leave me Shane." LOL

   

We read the book and studied the characters in Grade 9 english. Read the book first before you watch the movie. It's not long and the movie will make a lot more sense.. . And yes it is a good story both as a book and a movie.

   

Same. But in Grade 7. Had to read the book first. Don't remember it now.
