The overall world situation would be fascinating to see but there's only so much they can do with just one hour per week for sixteen episodes.

xerxes @ Sun Apr 01, 2018 9:36 pm

Another episode that drove me crazy. SPOILERS BELOW

Why oh why didn't Jadis just bash Neagan's face in? Other than the fact that it wasn't the season finale? It'll be interesting in a morbid way to see how Neagan cleans house next episode but still. Dumb dumb dumb people survived the zombie apocalypse.

BRAH @ Mon Apr 02, 2018 5:46 am

Jadis has a nice crib.

IMHO that's one of the pitfalls of most zombie fiction, regardless of the medium. They usually tend of focus on a group in the some small geographic area and ignore the world at large.

However, there are some that look at the bigger picture. Resident Evil has a more global feel with sets around the world and Z Nation has some international stuff in it (with a fair bit about Canada actually).

Thanos @ Mon Apr 02, 2018 3:41 pm

I do like Resident Evil just because it's so over-the-top insane. Not too big on Z Nation though; I just can't stand Asylum productions because they're so derogatory and stupid.

I do agree that the zombie genre is getting played out and over-saturated. Walking Dead is still one of my favourite shows though and I don't think it really deserves most of the criticism it gets. They can't help what limitations AMC places on them, which shouldn't happen at all considering that they've been AMC's bread-and-butter for at least six years now. Potentially losing someone like Lauren Cohan at the end of this season, as has been rumoured, just because someone at AMC wants to play Austerity Hero with raises for the cast is just bullshit.

Is anybody here still watching Fear the Walking Dead? When I stopped watching the Walking Dead I kept on watching FTWD because I found the characters more rounded and much more intelligent when it came to their own survival.

But, now that they've managed to port over one of the characters from the Walking Dead they even had him bring over the same complete lack of survival skills he and his friends in Alexandria were capable of. He has the same lack of foresight and the same lack of intelligence when dealing with either the living or the dead that the TWD crowd had. But, the best part of his mysterious arrival is that this twit has somehow managed to infect everyone west of the Mississippi with the same case of terminal stupidity that everyone in Virginia suffers from.

So, could someone tell me why the frat boys who write these shows seem to think that just writing the same story line for both shows is acceptable? Not only are they using the same tired out story line with the same mandatory popular character deaths they've reverted to using the same hackneyed tricks to create tension that they used on the Walking Dead. Although the one thing that really makes me wonder is the lack of explanation for how the hell they survived the dam scenario or why every occupant of a heavily armoured vehicle would get out to help one creature on the road who might or might not be a zombie.

While FTWD gave a new insight into the apocalypse it seems that since both parties have now escaped civilization their story's are mirror images of each other despite being in two very different places with different characters from different backgrounds and experiences. Hell, the characters are even starting to look and act like each other. You've got Al from FTWD who looks like she could be Maggies sister. Then, you've got Nick who, if he was oriental would be perfect Glen including the same stupid survival stories when he should have died but, finally finished off by a bad person. Of course you have Maddison who is just Rick minus his tiny testicles just to top it off.

I'm sorry but this show was a breath of fresh air after the steadily declining writing skill being displayed on TWD but, now that the characters have survived the initial Zombie Apocalypse it seems that the writers are going to be quite happy using the same story lines with just a few names being changed to protect the innocent rather than showing what life would be like if you actually acquired some survival skills in the 7 years since hell came a calling.

What a waste of a great premise and chance to do this genre properly.

You mean like the last 2 seasons have become tedious, anti-climactic, more difficult to suspend disbelief on and at times more than a little bit cringey?

IZombie is totally local to Seattle. In fact in the current season they built a wall around Seattle to control the outbreak of the Zombie virus.

You watch Ash vs the Evil Dead, don't you? Did you see the series ending finale? They went beyond global or even inter-dimensional this time. But then they killed the series. :(

I watch it because I like the genre and since the 2 series have opposite schedules you get more year-round zombiage. But with almost every episode of TWD and FTWD I watch, I find I’m more entertained by the alternative plot line I come up with in my head rather than what the writers have come up with.

To be honest I found Nick and his sister too moody and sulky anyway. The part where she just decides to leave her family and live on her own for no real reason after the ranch gets overrun was just stupid.

Like you I’m really interested to see how they differentiate the two series

Thanos @ Tue May 08, 2018 8:37 pm

I liked Nick. He was never a whiny junkie the way everyone thinks he was. What he had was a different outlook on the living and the dead combined with an uncanny instinct to survive.

BeaverFever @ Tue Jun 12, 2018 7:26 pm

FTWD is just getting so stupid and hoaky. The writers at AMC really need to be horsewhipped.

xerxes @ Tue Jun 12, 2018 9:48 pm

They need to stop ruining their own good things. From what I read there’s too much interference from the network and that’s what’s dragging their shows down.

Frankly, with Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan set to leave the show, they need to put an end to the show.

BeaverFever @ Wed Jun 13, 2018 3:03 am

I had no idea Andrew Lincoln was leaving. That’ll be a tough change to sell

BRAH @ Wed Jun 13, 2018 5:38 am

The Walking Dead is DEAD because Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) will be leaving the show after season 9. It started with him and it should end with him because TWD without Rick Grimes is like Star Trek without Captain Kirk.
