People Are Actually Mad That Wonder Woman Gal Gadot Has No Armpit Hair

When we look back at the great social justice struggles of 2017, surely, neigh certainly, the cause of putting armpit hair on fictional women will top the list.
This week, Warner Bros. released the new trailer for Wonder Woman, and most problematically, the Amazonian warrior princess played by Gal Gadot did not have any armpit hair.
Twitter exploded at the revelation, claiming women of the fictional matriarchy Themyscira would probably not shave their armpits. Some speculated that Gadot’s armpits were photoshopped to show a sheen, immaculate visage, unattainable by real women.
Many woke, intersectional journalists were also angered by the lack of gross armpit hair.
“Is this seriously still happening in 2017,” cried Slate.
“Do better!” crowed the Revelist.
Refinery29 even opined for a day when Wonder Woman could “prove that women—even those who are superheroes—don’t have to cater to beauty standards that are meant to make them more attractive to men.”
Wonder Woman has never had armpit hair in the comics or on screen. The new film is also set during World War 1, around the same time women began shaving their pits.
Gadot herself has yet to address the growing #Armpitgate scandal, instead choosing to tweet about non-armpit related issues. Do better, Gal!

The irony of this complaint is that if 'Amazons' existed, in the area that tales of them originate from, they would have most likely been pretty hairless.
That was the going "thing" for the day, and was practiced by both male and females of the time.
It would have been less "real" (yup, actually used the word real for a fictional character from a fictional race...)if she did have copious amounts of hair. Would have been very different from what we know of the history of that entire area (Mediterranean).
People seem to always forget that hair removal has been a human practice, found in every culture, for millennia.

Lol I have to admit I hated listening to that argument and the Star Wars vs Star Trek one too. Just never thought any of this would ever be on newsfeeds. The world is a very fucked up place

I like these kinds of stories for the weekend. I call them my weekend Idiot-bait threads. I post them (this one in the entertainment section) because not only do they attract some who might just have fun with the silliness of it (and it pleases me to serve up smiles), but the real prize for a weekend idiot-bait post are the guys who won't be able to stop themselves from hooking onto the idiot outrage chain themselves, as they diss the outrage from the links on the chain that precede them. So here you are. And here am I...watching.
