On the other forum I frequent (and moderate) the rule is set so that you can't post a new topic before your 100th post. It filters out the spammers for the most part.

   

I have to say I'm impressed. He filled almost two pages worth of spam threads. That's more effort that the usual spamming fuckface exerts.

   

I think this is a good idea too. Maybe not 100 but some number. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to implement but it forces new users to get involved in discussions before starting random threads and most spammers wont go through the hassle. Also, legitimate trolls will probably be found out before that time.

   

I found his posts enlighenting and edifying.

   

Don't you just love it when the mod's remove a spam post after you've responded to it and you're the one who ends up looking like one of andyt's friends from the East End who spends his days ranting and raving to imaginary friends.

But, I agree in full with you're assessment of the situation.

In all honesty, quite a few members don't need any kind of help at all getting that idea across to the general population.......which is why I usually prefer to delete the entire thread, not just nuke the perpetrator!

Trev finally fixed the spamtard issue with the news, basically putting the kibosh on their attempts at spamming the news/home page. If he did the same with the forums, the only way the us mods would be able to get our exercise with the Banhammer and launch button would be to take it out on the general population.....this means all of YOU...........
