CBC to look into anti-Harper clip made by reporter

http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/new ... 517ccf0952

The CBC's Journalistic Standards and Practices state that: "Any situation which could cause reasonable apprehension that a journalist or the organization is biased or under the influence of any pressure group, whether ideological, political, financial, social or cultural, must be avoided."

It looks like the CBC is doing exactly what it should in situations like this. so what's the problem?

ridenrain @ Thu Oct 02, 2008 4:25 pm

Difference between reporting the news and being the news. They can't be objective if their involved.
Fire Them All.

Reverend Blair @ Thu Oct 02, 2008 5:21 pm

She's an arts reporter, not a political reporter. She's on a leave of absence. She didn't use CBC equipment to film her spot.

People don't give up their right to free expression when they take a job with the CBC.

travior @ Thu Oct 02, 2008 5:54 pm

If we fired all the non-objective reporters, we'd have one little old man left in a corner pecking away at a 70 year old manual typewriter trying to finish his story why professional athletes are overpaid.

Quit muddying the water with facts and common sense.

Then the CBC investigating this event is a figment of our imagination.

Freakinoldguy @ Sat Oct 04, 2008 3:28 pm

I can just imagine the howling that'd go on if it had been a CTV reporter doing an anti Dion piece.

Whether your an arts reporter or a political reporter the fact remains that you, to be fair should be unbiased. ROTFL But then again I suppose she felt, given her bosses blatent anti conservative agenda, that she had the green light to do the piece.

Just another CBC hypocrisy.

Apollo @ Sat Oct 04, 2008 3:30 pm

The Liberal party should have to include the costs for this in their election campaign.

JungleBoogie @ Sat Oct 04, 2008 9:34 pm

The CBC is my main news source for Canada. Yet somehow I've evolved into
a Stephen Harper fan. I'm unconcerned. Show me a CBC-hater conservative
and I'll show you a Republican North of 49. Shutup already paranoid
conservatives.

If I have your explicit permission to speak....

The CBC exhibits rife paranoia, and I'm not too keen on republicans south of 49.

I do like Alexander Keith's. 8)

Do you blame the National Post for being pro-Israel?
Doesn't mean we should kick them out of the country.

Been hearing about the Liberal Party "in trouble" on CTV newsnet every
2nd day...so what?

Still voting Harper nontheless.

Any under-educated drooling moron who votes as the TV tells him or her to
deserves whatever they get.

I'd like to think Canadians are more intelligent than that.

You can speak, just don't whine

Yes...whining should be restricted to commercial aircraft.

Nah, leave it to the few scavengers left in the Liberal party.
They seem adept at whining this election year... [B-o]

Not so big of a fan that you want to vote for him though. One might even say so little of a Canadian that you'd rather vote for the Bloc?

The CBC refuses to even think that it could be biased in any way and because "everybody knows" it's the voice of Canada. Everyone who works there is cut from the same cloth and the political party donations of their directors shows they support the Liberals.
Like it's big brother, the BBC recognised it was biased and is trying to clean itself up. The CBC needs to do the same.
