"Private-sector economists reacted lukewarmly to the Liberal plan, saying much of it appears to be either open-ended proposals to consult or activities that would take place anyway - such as Ottawa's meeting with private-sector economists each fall and the annual economic update that normally occurs in October or November."

""It's not wrongheaded, but it's a proposal to launch a committee, which is fine - but it's a bit of a stretch to describe it as an action plan," said Finn Poschmann, research director at the C.D. Howe Institute."

stating the obvious and claiming it is a plan is only something that appeals to life long Liberals.

Ya know, as soon as I hear somebody quoting C.D. Howe or Fraser, I just assume they are working for the Conservative Party.

How do you feel when they post an article from the Star?

"Mr. McCallum acknowledged it's possible that no regulatory amendments may be required for Canada's financial system."

it's not a plan it's just a smoke screen.

Then I assume they are Liberals...with the exception of a couple of token columnists they keep around.

The Star is pretty open about its political leanings though, and it does keep those token columnists around in an attempt to achieve balance. C.D. Howe and the Fraser Institute pretend to be politically neutral while pushing a political agenda masked as economics.

"Stéphane Dion acknowledged Friday his 30-day plan to boost the economy revealed for the first time in Wednesday night's leaders' debate will be funded by money already budgeted by the Conservative government."

"In fact, it seems Canada's "major economists" have already delivered their pronouncements. If Stéphane is really interested in what they have to say, he might want to click here — and here, here, here and here. Or better yet: here. It turns out that these Very Smart People have been thinking about these issues for many months — while the chief of the Liberal Party was daydreaming about a carbon tax no one wants.

it's not his plan it belongs to someone else......PLAGIARISM :P

He said he would act on his plan within 30 days...30 days because he didn't know the dates that these meetings are already scheduled for.
