You had trouble understanding Prime Minister Harper? Why? Did he have George Bush's pee pee in his mouth?

Apollo @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:07 pm

Nice comment. What grade are you in?

This is why the NDP will always be a radical fringe party.

Reverend Blair @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:16 pm

So why couldn't you understand Harper? You said very clearly that the last time you talked to him you couldn't understand him. I came up with the most reasonable explanation for that under the circumstances.

By the way, I've never met anybody in the NDP as radical as the Harperites are. Talk about your extremists....

Toro @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:22 pm

Apollo Apollo:
But you're not running for the top job in the country. If he can't hear or speak English than to me that is a serious issue for a PM.

It never stopped Chretien.

Apollo @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:24 pm

I don't understand Dion.

If Conservatives are so radical then I guess Canadians are radicals too as they have had some of the most support for the past 100 years. Meanwhile the NDP drifts in and out of official party status for a reason.

How are Layton's biggest fans doing? I'm sure the Kadrs are busy canvassing for the NDP so that they can finish Canada off.

Reverend Blair @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:32 pm

Ah, here we go with the terrorist thing again.

Harper's Conservatives are not the same party that used to go under the name Progressive Conservative. There is nothing progressive about them.

Apollo @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:45 pm

You didn't address why the NDP is a only fringe party.

I will await anxiously for your response.

No no no. The Kadhr's are Liberals. The Arar's are NDP. :D
.. but don't let me distract you Blair. Please answer the question.

Reverend Blair @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 8:04 pm

They aren't a fringe party if you look at how people think about their policies. The difficulty in getting votes is largely a matter of the Liberals being the default party, especially for people who want to keep the right out of office.

Of course if you'd spent any time studying the political situation in Canada, you would have known that.

Apollo @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 8:14 pm

Oh I see. Now the Liberal party is the default party. So it's not radical views that keep the NDP from gaining support, its the Liberals fault.

Then why do you spend so much effort defending the Liberals? Perhaps you are part of the problem then? You are only reinforcing exactly the thing that you are complaining about.

If you are the typical NDP supporter, then the NDP deserves to be nothing more than a fringe party.

Have fun staving off the Greens on October 14th. Next election the NDP will be desperatlt trying to stay ahead of the Marijuana party.

Rhino party, Communist party, Libertarian party are fringe. Greens were fringe but became mainstream and are polling at 10%. NDP are polling at 17%, clearly not fringe when you factor in polling habits - they call stay at home moms during the day which helps the conservatives, and all conservatives have regular phone lines.

Cons and Libs are between 25-37% each, clearly the 2 dominant ones historically. But just because you are not 'dominant', doesn't mean you're fringe. "You are either Dominant or Fringe" = typical rightwing bipolar concepts. They neglect to measure the middle between the extremes.

Reverend Blair @ Wed Sep 17, 2008 2:05 am

It's pretty funny that the Conservatives consider the NDP to be a fringe party, actually. What was the Reform/Alliance? Jesus, Preston Manning? The man is like an entire fringe festival all by himself. Backed by the Byfields too...now there's a family with a little too much close breeding in their background. You know when respectable dog breeders come up with a bloodline that mean and stupid, they put them down so as not to contaminate the entire breed.

Oh yeah, the fringe...Diane Ablonczy, Cheryl Gallant, Bob Mills. I know some guys who went to university with Mills, the best thing they could come up with to say about him is that he didn't usually crap his pants in public.

And Deanie Del Mastro? Oh don't get me started on Deanie the Fathead. I wouldn't be buying a used car from him, that's for sure. He's not just the fringe, he's the guy they keep in a tent and charge admission to look at when the circus comes to town.

Oh, I could go on...there's Andy Scheer and that Goodyear idiot and Bev Oda.

Yup, lock up your daughters and hide the chickens, the Reform/Alliance/Conservatives are coming to town.

When a party goes in and out of official party status as many times as Liz Taylor changes husbands then I would consider it a fringe party.

KyleEverett @ Wed Sep 17, 2008 2:17 pm

Canada should have proportional representation rather then mere plurality. Individual candidates already don't matter so why bother having a representative for your riding?

Force them to make coalition governments to pass anything and make it so the PM can't call elections so its either work together or piss everyone off by doing nothing.

See, I'd define fringe as the party full of racists, homophobes, fundamentalists, and men who favour high heels and broad-brimmed hats. That'd be the Reform/Alliance/Conservatives.

How many times has the NDP lost official party status anyway, Apollo? Give an HONEST answer, if you're capable of such a thing.
