Comrades, let us rejoice with our new national child care.
Here, Comrades
Prime Minister's Chose Daycare
I have another shock for you. I work in a daycare. Yes... I know… a conservative working in a daycare, it sounds a little crazy I know. I work in a private daycare and would never work in or send a child to a government run one.
Anyways here is a daily schedule for a government run daycare.
It opens at 6am to 10am: Children have free…no... teacher involved play. They can read books, like the princess Belinda and the evil Dragon Harper. They also have blocks and cars and other toys, which cost the daycare 100,000 dollars, but it is worth it because it was made in Canada with union jobs. If one of the children takes another kids toys away the teacher gived him a sticker. “Good job Jimmy, taking something that belongs to other people."
10am to 11am: They have circle time. They hear a story about how a little kingdom of Canberal is taken over by a large evil kingdom from the south. They then sing a song about a nondenominational, winter time, holiday festival. Then they practice the poem they that are memorizing... The Carter of Right and Freedoms. Then they bring out their unmarked brown envelopes and practice filling them with money. Then the children turn away and the teachers take their envelopes.
11am to 12pm: They have outside time. Before they go play they have to hug some of the trees in their playground. The kids can not play with toy guns unless they are registered.
12pm to 12:30pm: The children have lunch, but the teachers collect all most 50 pre cent of the children’s lunches for themselves. They read from the Charter again. One of the children tries to pray before eating her lunch and the teacher gives them a time out. After reading from their Bible… the Charter, they eat their lunch. There are food police that go around and look at children’s lunches.
12:30 to 1:00 and sleep until 2:30: The children get ready for a nap. They wash up and go to the bathroom while a photographer is there to take “artistic” pictures of them. To have the children fall asleep the teachers put on a tape of Paul Martin’s radio speeches. Then 20 percent of their nap time music is Canadian. The children love it because they get the same music over and over again.
2:30 to 3:00: The children get up. They have more time to play. The children can now play with Adam and Steve dolls or Eastern European strips dolls. They can also do a puzzle with pictures of Canada heroes like Tommy Douglas and Dr. Morgentaler. The teachers do not let the natural play of the children occur, but are also interfering.
3:00 to 3:30: The children have snack. They have Tim Horton’s and Canadian fruit. The children try to get each others snack by promising them friendship and that they can come to their birthday party.
3:30 to 6:00: The children go back outside and play. They go with their teachers to their shed to see how their “plants” are doing. Then they get picked up by their parents. The teachers take money from the parents when they are not looking and they give some of it back to them, the parents are so happy about this because they get money back from the teachers.
Priceless, well not really 10-20 billion dollars

This whole daycare thing is now a mess.
If you just give people money, they'll just spend it, and that won't improve the quality or availability of daycare (and we are talking about 'for the sake of the children' here, right?). Once it's gone, people will turn around and say 'that wasn't enough' (largely because they bought a new flatscreen tv with the money). It's transparent vote-whoring all round. Tories make me laugh most in this, though; you can shove their nose in the lying shit for days on end and they'll still call it truth sherbet. The liberals keep winning because they're likeable liars, sad to say. Mulroney was a likeable liar; so was Mike Harris and so is Ralph Klein. The winner in politics these days is simply the most likeable liar, because they're all liars now. Populist 'untouchables' who get in, make a difference, and then get out are nowhere to be found.
Look at the Quebec day care system, It was supposed to cost $230 million over five years, but now gobbles $1.7 billion every year.
The final price tag for Quebec's day care program is 33 times what was originally projected.
Why do we expect the Fiberals to do any different.
Name one Federal progect that came in under budget.
Can't get enough of that sherbet, huh?
Tell me something...do seatbelts save lives? Sure they do. So why do we have to force people to wear seat belts? Because they're that stupid.
Tories love easy answers to complex questions. It's all they can get their head around. Trying to explain why something done as a collective is beneficial to the society as a whole just doesn't penetrate the fog...they're so dim they buy into this 'running government like a business' hogwash time after time after time. It's easy, right? Poof! Problems solved!
I can't stand the liberals, but even Presto Manning was better than this Harper clown.
TO ALL:
Please go to the MEDALS forum and endorse my nomination for Elvis as Seperatist and Anti-Canuck. Thank you.

NorthCelt: Obviously, we have a different mind set.
I believe most parents are responsible and try to do the best for their children.
You believe that most people are stupid and need a bloated government to take care them.
Again.. you can dress the piggy up however you want but it's still a pig.
I am quite informed in my profession and try to read books to help me understand projects I am involved with that are outside of my professional scope. I do not pretend that I am an expert on any subject because I have read a few books. Therefore, I always appreciate guidance from experts when undertaking a serious task.
I am a parent; In fact I am a new parent. I am very responsible and I love my child very much. If I have the chance to gain expertise from a body of people that deal with ECD everyday, I'll grab it. I will not spite my child's well being in order to achieve autonomy from the state or to make some political statement on who should be teaching my child. I would not self medicate myself if I had an illness, I wouldn't attempt to build a house on my own either. I know only the basics on these things. Why is it so tough for people to ask for help in doing a hugely important and complicated thing like raising a child? I don't get it.
Ridenrain, it's funny that Albertans such as yourself, who have had the same party in control for the past three decades, would lecture the rest of the country on our lack of willingness to embrace change. Do the liberals deserve a dumping? No question, but a dumping in favour of what? A guy who just a short while ago declared Canada 'dysfunctional'? Canada may be a lot of things, but it's way short of 'dysfunctional'. If it's so bad, why stay here?
Harper is a neo-con...the type of guy who says 'big government doesn't work and if you put me in power, I'll show you just how much big government doesn't work.' On this, I believe him. If you look at the world standard of living/quality of life scale, Canada ranks extremely close to the top, and those countries that are higher up the scale are all MORE democratic socialist. I'm not prepared to hand the reigns of power over to some Fraser Institute stooge or Ayn Randian Ayndroid just for the sake of change or blind ideology...unlike conservatives, I do care about those fellow citizens who can't take care of themselves or need help. There's more out there than you know or are willing to admit.
Red Green says 'We're all in this together'. Unless you're a tory, then it's tough shit on you for hard luck and don't ask me for help...I'm in this world to get mine so get outta my way.
My apologies, Ridenrain...you're from BC; you just sound like you're from Alberta. My bad...
Ridenain is from Surrey, BC. Are you in Cadman's old riding? Who is running for PCP this time? The same guy that lost to Cadman? I heard there is another independant running there that wants to pickup where Cadman left off. Her child was also mudered. It will be an interesting riding to watch
No foul. As I mentioned before, I'm old Reform, so that Alberta line might still apply
We do rank highly but I think that's the Canadian people, in spite of the gov. and I think if we could shrug off some of the nannyism, we could do much better. Harper may not be "the right man" but the past number of years have proven that Paul Martin definately is the wrong man.
Based on that, I'm willing to take a chance and I'm hoping most Canadians are too.
I just read that they expect the cost of the National Health care system to top some $142 Billion. We just can't keep pouring money into it.
