So who do you think would win the debate???

In my Opinion Ignatef would eat Harper Alive because he is a lot more use to debate than Harper.

But hey it's just my opinion

Harper, more intelligent, more keen, more witty. He might seem like a soulless statue in front of the cameras doing his speech, but he is a very quick thinker and incredibly brilliant. While Iggy would have more ammo, Harper would know how to dodge most of it, if not turn it around on iggy somehow.

   

Not sure about that. Both are dull as dishwater and are unable to coherently make points without resorting to bludgeoning techniques.


Frankly, it'd be like watching a pair of Easter Island statues facing off against each other.

   

I'd say Haprer. But only becuase Iggy would have to go on the attack to score points while Harper would just have to sit there and calmly defend. Unless, of course, Harper's snide, dickish side comes out to play.

   

This is kind of a trick question because it depends on how you define winning. Who would look like less of an ass and flip flop the least, normally my bets would be on Harper but after today I'm really having my doubts.

   

Well, given that Harper's backpedalling at 120kph (breaking the limit, but just a little bit - nothing everybody else isn't doing) on the whole idea of a one-on-one, I don't think he thinks he can win.

   

More keen and more witty, perhaps, but more intelligent? Come on. Iggy's biggest problem is he's too much of a goddamn egghead. But Iggy is a Harvard professor and a terrific writer so he CLEARLY wins the "more intelligent" title. But I think Harper has more street-sense and, if he keeps his calm and doesn't try to think too much, he could win a debate. He's much more media savy and his strategy will be to get Iggy on an egg-head tirade. I think Harper will be evasive, smug and terse and it'll agitate Iggy and he'll come off looking like a wound-up nut.

   

Politics really doesn't require people who are intellectual giants...they usually find jobs elsewhere. However, being able to think and speak on your feet will get you far in politics.

   

I'd declare victory to the first that says "American-style" something

For winning the debates, Harper should only put bottle of vodka on his table.

   

Maybe Iggy should do the same. His grandfather was a Russian noble

   

I mean that Ignatieff as all Russians can't keep himself calm looking at full bottle of vodka. He will be sweating like pig
