If I could vote I would vote conservative mainly because I like what theyre going to do for the military. Plus I dont like the liberals they waste too much money trying to cover up their tracks for money that they wasted.

I voted Conservative, and will on election day, for the first time in my life. Not cuz of any particulare issue. I am what you would call aswing voter, but if you don't kick em out of office for this, what the hell does a government have to do to piss off the people of Canada? I think Chretien's attitude was disgusting, and as much as I may like Mr. Martin, his party has to go. THey need a good kick in the balls to remind them they are not invincible.

I'd like to see alot more votes here but here is some comments made by people I've spoken with face to face while going about my daily business (I don't mean while I've been sitting on a toilet)

" I really don't know any of the candidates well so why should I vote "

" I don't want to make it a coin toss so I'm not sure if I should vote , It would be like lieing to myself , and if people are not sure then they shouldn't vote . It does a great indignity ."

The one I hear alot is... "they're all crooks so it makes no damn difference who wins,.... now lets watch football"

pretty sad

no, if "they" = "Liberals" then yes thats a true statement.

yes I think there was some sort of a statement by what I heard that there still are people that don't give a shit and some find it hopeless . I heard some pretty good arguements as to why vote , but that wouldn't make for good forum conversation and would probably freak a few people out . I am still undecided because I just can't shake the cons records right back to the beginning of this country and the liberals , well even though I understand what objectives they have always had ' and very good ones too ' , I can't get over the state they have brought this country to . The revolving door of Liberal scandals barely even fizzes on me because compared to conservative garbage its at least comparable . Ottwawa has always been cruel to Alberta .I used to see many bar brawls dating back to " the let those eastern bastards freeze" situation. Personally I didn't care but got involved to defend the occasional friend .I wouldn't be too quick to glorify the conservatives for Albertas success (natural wealth) but they couldn't be a better party to defend themselves against an Ottawa which has obligated it so heavily that they know Ottawa would be up the creek without a prayer without them . A conservative party in ottawa would not resemble anything significant for the west because it would have to take a precedent to the maximum populations therefore would without choice 2nd rate the west once again . By the time I am as old as Rumpel Stiltskin I may discover that Canadians are and always will be 12/4 . (Twelve years Liberal with a 4 year grounding for misbehaviour ) Don't quote me on this but I believe immigrants lean heavily toward liberal voting to a degree which may make the consevatives very insignificant so as the number of minorities rise it would be interesting to see what occurrs in the future . The conservative party has combined resources from other groups to pull out all the stops and it has been a long hard trek because they have almost reached the point of no return so if they hope to take grasp of this countries future they had better resemble something which will bring peace of mind . Currently I lean more toward conservative and am disgusted with the Liberals beyond anything imaginable .

I'm voting Conservative because I agree fully with their platform(social and economic), support Harper and my Conservative MP,Leon Benoit.I am also disgusted with the Libs. 8)

It's sad that there aren't more people fed up with both the Liberals and the Cons.... anyhow I'll be voting NDP: The only relevant party with a programme that doesn't make me want to projectile vomit...

.....plus Jack's got that saucy pornstache.

I was going to vote conservative until Harper stood up and anounced he was pulling the rug out from under western farmers. In order to make big agri business even more money i guess.

Now I dunno. If I think the Liberals have a chance (they have promised to not only protect the wheatboard, but also hand over total control to the farmer elected board) then I'll vote for them. If the Cons are running away with it anyway, I'll vote NDP.

If the cons run away with it we all might as well vote marajuana party, at least then we'll all be too high to care about our deficit and debt re-spiralling out of control.

Canadaka @ Thu Jan 12, 2006 3:19 pm

For myself, I have been on the fence several times this election, between Liberal or NDP. I also will admit at some times some of the things the Conservatives have put forward I have agreed with, THIS IS ALLOWD!

But at the end of the day i'm pretty sure I will be voting Liberal. I think the current situation of Canada is pretty decent, sure there are lot sof problems, but if you step back and take a look at it, we are doing pretty good, I like the Canada is today.

I really dislike it when the Cons say the last 12 years blah blah, like we lived in the dark ages the last 12 years under liberal governments, I see it in a much different way. I see the last 12 years as some of Canada's best years.

All the cons seem to be running on is the need to change, CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE. drastic change. I don't think we need drastic change, I like the Canada we have. Sure government needs to be cleaned up, The liberals have taken great steps in doing this, and its obvious if they did win it would be a minority, so they would be held on a short lease and all parties could help in cleaning up government and politics, not just the liberal party.

I also feel Canada is a balance, a balance between the social left states in Europe and the capitalistic right United States. I think this is a good balance, it is Canada. I believe with the Cons the scale tips too far in one direction and I think if the NDP were in power the scale would tip in the other direction. Too me the Liberals are the best party to maintain the balance.

But like I said each party has things i agre with and disagree with, but at the end of the day, you have to make a choice. "Choose your Canada"

Another note about the GST.

cons brought it in the first place.
we all know that any party wont follow through with all its promises all the time, like Mr.Harper said, times change.

Also a lot of people get a lost of GST back, like business and low income, some people actualy get more GST back then they pay.

I dont support a GST cut, there is no evidence that prices wouldn't just go up, special on lower $$ items which is what low income people whould be buying most often. Makes much more sense to invest the money better.

I think a liberal minority with a strong NDP MP showing will do this.

Tricks @ Thu Jan 12, 2006 9:06 pm

Why would prices go up? GST is not used for profit in businesses....

Canadaka @ Fri Jan 13, 2006 1:51 am

Some people might just use it as an excuse to quietly bump prices up a couple cents. And a lot of prices at places have the taxes built in. I doubt a lot of such places would be lowering the price.

For example a lot of tourist stuff, like whsitler, tickets food ext, tax is included just easier, I really doubt the price would be lowered.

I voted NDP in the last election because I foresaw the BS being dished out by the LIBS & CONS would only continue into the future. I don't remember so much smoke clouding Canadian politics as I have seen during the reign of king dithers! [kissass] I will be voting NDP again this time around because their outward appearance is balanced better than the crooks who are running about on our streets buying up votes with taxpayer $$$ when they should be chained to the walls of the Kingston penn. Canadian politics has gone to hell & representation is looking more like African dictatorships all the time. Is ethnic cleansing (for example) on the horizon for Canada?! 8O

Donny_Brasco @ Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:05 am

I'm voting Liberal because the Conservative MP in my riding supports the Saskatoon city cops who murder Indians by dropping them off in -30 weather with no shoes or jacket.

I would normally vote NDP but this guy has got to go. Chris Axworthy (Lib) is a decent guy.

I have some other reasons not to vote for the cons:

1) Scrapping our historic deal between the Natives, provinces and the feds.
2) Leaving farmers to fend for themselves.
3) supporting illegal American wars.
4) ect, ect....
