You know I recall hearing the exact opposite to that comment on ethnic minorities. I heard they are more likely to vote con because of religious beliefs and thier own (previous I guess) culture.

The whole point is hes not saying it cause he didn't like immigrants but because he can't explain why the cons didn't win the seats however the media portrayed him as hating immigrants. See what I mean a poorly thought out comment can be twisted pretty badly...

hmmm I have to say that or that quote that hes pretty much hit it on the head. The immigrants to western Canada don't vote the same way as the locals and they do tend to live in concentrated in areas. But it was contrused as if harper hated immigrants...

He sounds like Jaques Pariseau when he blamed the fact that the separatists lost the referendum on the ethnic vote.....

Minorities usually vote liberal, because liberals are usually more accepting of people with differences....

And they're very grateful to the Liberal party because they allowed them in. Why do you think new immigrants are sent Liberal party information?

same reason why the chicken crossed the road ?

......to get to the other side .

Some words and comments can be twisted and taken the wrong way....double meanings meant one way spun the other. But the crap that comes out of some peoples mouths truly are not SPUN one way or another, it just IS the way they say it. Its those people who need to get a boot in the ass and not even considered a candidate. And sometimes keeping your mouth shut speaks volumes.

Good hypothesis.

It works well unless you realize that everybody in Canada gets the same thing.

So you find it acceptable to advertise a political party to new Canadians? Seems somewhat of an abuse of power.

Abuse of power from the Liberals? No way.

SireJoe @ Sun Jan 22, 2006 8:01 pm

Are you then saying that the cons wouldnt do the same thing? That they are above that?

I am not saying its a good idea, or right, but to assume that something that one party does is something that another would not, I think is keeping true to the ass u me dealio.

It never ceases to amaze me how some Tories just can't seem to accept that there's people who vote Liberal simply because they agree with their policies. No it's because they're brainwashed by the MSM, or they're ignorant FOB immigrants

I bet most of those immigrants put more thought into their votes than most Tory supporting Albertans do.
