The Greens will be heading into the next federal election (when it comes) with new leader Elizabeth May. She is considered an "activist" politician and is reputedly well acquainted with Hill politics..
The Greens haven't yet come close to election in any Ottawa riding, nor do they infringe upon people's conciousness.
Look to Ms. May to try be a more vocal and visible leader than our previous leader. I would have preferred David Chernushenko win the leadership. He made a very good showing his riding and is a bit less "scary" to business than Elizabeth.
I hear more people musing about perhaps maybe they might like to consider thinking about the chance of possibly voting Green but in the last election people were so polarized between the Liberal/Conservative divide they didn't want to split the vote.
If the party can elect a first member or even two in the next election that will lead to others. To achieve this we'd want to see a minority Parliament.
It was quite stupid of the Green Party to choose Elizabeth May - and I am speaking as a semi Green supporter. They were my second party, as ecocapitalists under Jim Harris - now, they are ecosocialists, and I wouldn't dream of voting for them.
Well at least let them put out a platform on the issues to see where they may be standing. THEN let the bashing begin
Ive looked to the green as an alternative before but just never agreed enough with where they stood on some issues.
Maybe she will make a difference? Hopefully a positive one.
She wants to revoke NAFTA, get out of NATO, and all of our other international commitments.
Elizabeth May.............................
another puppet politician , to lead a puppet party.
Green = $

[font=Tahoma]With Elizabeth May as leader the Green Party has been doing very well.
The party does have a platform that covers all issues. You can see it at the following link.
2006 GPC Platform
The recent by-election, in which May placed a close second to the Liberal candidate (well ahead of the Conservative & NDP candidates) proved that the Green Party is electable. It also proved that the Green Party draws votes from all parties.
The Greens have a well thought out foreign policy, and wish to renegotiate NAFTA. If that can't be done, then yes, they would get out of NAFTA. It's a horrible deal.
What attracted me to the Green Party was their Key Values. These principles guide the GPC's policies and this is unique to the Greens.
So far Elizabeth May has done an amazing job leading the Green Party. The media attention has been unbelievable. The public support is amazing. There is hope that she will be included in the televised leaders debates.
As we begin the new year, the Greens are preparing for the 'status quo' parties to force another election on Canadians. Be ready for the Green Party to continue to gain support.
