I agree NSAy and the problem is also that the media portrays the unions in this light also! Union workers are already overpaid and underworked is the message we hear, never the real issues, never that their contracts have been left in limbo for several years, or that the wages they are looking for are fair wages for the job they do. We never get balance, not from the media and not from our governments, they have really forgotten who they work for! I just wish those union workers would remember the governments that held them in contempt when it comes to the election; they certainly seemed to forget in Alberta last election, of course many others have such short memories also. :x

Unions do not make up the majority of workers in Alberta. We are running at about 20% of the work force I think. The media is owned by multi national corporations and they have an agenda. The government also has an agenda, if they have to pay higher wages they can't give as much corporate welfare as they would like and so they attack the unions. <p>Union leaders have to stand tall and not crumble when the mud slinging starts. We as union members have to stand beside our leaders so that they do not waver. Also unions have to re-discover what they were invented for. They were supposed to be for all the working class not just those who know somebody or are a relative. If all the working class in Canada were Union members imagine the political clout we would have. Never mind the " there is not enough work to go around " bullshit, there is plenty to be done and if we can only go into debt to finance wars then lets declare WW III on poverty!
