I *again* woke up all in sweats. I have an anxiety disorder. I take meds for that. Does anyone else have that problem ?

My mom has one and was prone to panic attacks. She takes paxil and used to take xanax. She says she's felt edgy a few times but hasn't had a full blown panic attack for years.

A good friend of mine used to suffer from them while driving. he said he had to pull over. He's on the same meds as my mom and says it makes him feel normal and confident again. he thought he was going crazy. Funny thing is, he is one of the most laid back people you could meet(even before the meds). Sort of like The Dude Lebowski.

My anxiety level seems to be at a constant 3 (on a scale of 1 to 10). it never seems to go away. I am unable to get a doctor to pay any attention to me, because I'm not suffering any physical conditions ( not yet)

Anyways, I spent the last 10 days going for walks with my son instead of spending time on the computer, and I'm begining to think the computer is part of my problem. Correction, it not the computer, but the way that I use the computer to procrastinate and escape from things that dont go away....hence, when I am done on the computer, things have only gotten worse.

That's why I haven't been on the computer as much lately. I take Clonazepam for my anxiety, although I'm not sure how much it helps really. I also have Ativan to take from time to time, but if I take it, it's usually at night to help me sleep (very rarely). My anxiety gets worse the more stressed I am, normal I guess, but the levels are way too much for me to deal with without feeling physical symptoms.

I've found that exercise is the best remedy for when I'm anxious. I've tried meditation and all that, but it doesn't work for me.

Proculation, if you're waking up in sweats, could it be a side affect of the medication? What are you taking?

Proculation:...Meds alone wont be sufficient for anxiety disorders, you should include, exercise, yoga, meditation, proper diet, cut out all caffeine..etc. Seek out an anxiety support group, such as a changeways program.

I got a anxiety disorter, so does my mom. She took meds all her life and it did nothing for her. However she discovered this guy in Toronto whos into Neuro Feedback and uses it to cure many brain problems. He cures depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, etc. However all the patients who go to him are generally test subjects as hes still collecting all the data from his patients and showing the results to get the method approved, etc.

My mom is now completly cured of Depression, Anxiety and sais she feels great. However because it isn't covered by medical insurance. She had to pay a lot of money for her treatments and depleted her retirement fund.

So yeah, medicine may numb a small percent of it for awhile but isn't going to cure it. You stack up the cost of all the medicine you have to take for the rest of your life and this treatment is cheap by comparison.

Last I heard from my mom he just designed a new treatment that is a lot more effective and less time consuming. Meaning the less treatments you got to take which also means the less money you got to spend.

What they do is they put this gel in spots on your head and hook this electronic wires to the gel which can scan your brain waves and deliver the info to the computer. They got a TV infront of you and for things like depression they will show you a movie, documentry or this designed game for the treatment of a guy walking up a ladder. Everytime you feel depressed the movie will stop and the only way to continue it is to relax and feel less depressed. Graduly with the equipment it will bring down any out of place frequencies to normal levels and will train your brain to encounter depression differently.

That's a very bad explanation of what they do, I heard a detailed version once awhile ago and it's a lot more specific than that and makes a lot more sense.

I really suggest you keep your ears open for it for when the treatment ever gets accepted or if you live in Toronto and are willing to pay the money I can get you the directions.

Yep I have an anxiety disorder as well, I take paxil 30mg once a day. It works to a degree, but as Tatt said the most effective treatment is a multilevel approach. I do my best but develop a hearing problem when my doctor mentions caffeine. Proc the night sweats your speaking of are a side effect of paxil.
