Okay I'll try to keep it simple . This is the first time I have ever worn glasses and I hope this doesn't sound too odd , but although everything seems to be sharpened immensely , especially for driving and that infact feels like the only place they are useful .Walking is just bizarre . My depth perception has gone weird . Stepping off of a curb feels really strange almost like I'm going to trip because I feel about 10 to 12 feet tall . The best way to describe it is , like sit on the roof about eaves trough level and looking at the ground with a pair of binoculars . I don't need reading glasses and the further away an object is the better this eye glass prescription is . Is this unusual or just something I have to get used to ? or do I need bifocals ? I appreciate anything you can tell me . I really am a rookie at this vision thing .

Nope..that's normal. Give yourself a week or so to adjust. I'm near sighted as well, and can relate perfectly.

So am I. Takes a week orso...

I've worn glasses since I was in grade five and I really noticed what you are explaining when I developed astigmatism. My first pair of glasses to correct that made things really weird, but it does go away.

Thanks guys/gals I thought it was just me .

Ruez , I looked up astigmatism and I don't know if this is true or not , but look at this link ...I'm going to make up my own exercises and see if it works . I know you were thinking about getting Class 1A license ...well I passed most of the tests but I was forced to get these glasses in order to progress toward getting a class 1 with air brake endorsement . I really never knew my eye sight was faulty until I was told . They even with held my School Bus endorsement until I got these glasses . http://www.rebuildyourvision.com/?gclid ... Qgod71Yukw

Don't worry, it happens to everyone when they first get glasses. But if that keeps happening after a week or two definitely go see your eye doctor again.

When I got my glasses that I need to read things far away, they told me that I'd have mild astigmatism for about a week or so, and after that, it disappeared. Still happens once in a blue moon if I ahven't had to wear my glasses in a long time. You should be able to get used to it soon...

I got the same thing. took me a while to get used to my glasses. give it a week or so and if you still don't like it maybe go back and look at bi-focals

It's normal Banff, it's alot like being sea sick your perception is screwed. You might get use to it, or you might not. I've been wearing glasses for forty years and I still can't walk with them on. I use them to read or drive but I can't function with them on while I walk. I run into walls, fall down stairs and it's gotten worse because I now wear bifocals. Good luck, but don't climb a ladder until you are use to your glasses.

Go figure , you're right 8O anyway thanks for your input , At first I thought there was something wrong with the prescription . If f I wear the glasses for awhile then take them off my vision is really blurred for about 2 to 5 minutes . I guess there is a negative and positive to this thing. It's almost as though glassses help you see but in turn make your vision worse and reliant on them . Supposedly I'm 20/60 L , 20/40R and 20/30 corrected but if I don't wear them there will probably be no chance in hell they will give me the 1A commercial license . Because I got 100% on the school bus test the examiner was quick to give me the S endorsement until she tested my vision, so I guess they'll be giving that much now that I joined the four eyes team of human beings . I like the glasses for driving infact I really like them for driving , but any other time ...Bahumbug (not so much )

How's the depth perception? Any better with time?

Your description is exactly what I felt last time I got a new pair of glasses. Just be careful crossing roads for the first few days.
