Bertuzzi got suspended for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.

I think he should have got suspended for some, if not all, of the next regular season (whenever it is)

   

It is indefinite, from what I understand, so the fact that the suspension is up for review next season makes it "just right" for me.

I've always thought the length of the suspension should equal the length of time the injured party is out. That might make some people think twice before they run someone into the boards and ruin their career.

Keep Bertuzzi out until Moore is back in Colorado's line-up full time.

   

He should have criminal charges brought agasint him. Hockey playeys should not be imune just becasue what they do is on ice.

I haven't divulged my opion on this incident yet on this forum and wasn't going to since it's old news now, but here goes:

At the time of the first game when Moore hit Naslund it was a close game and both teams were fighting for top spot in the northwest division. Nobody on the Canucks team wanted to retaliate at that point in fear that they would potentially blow the game by taking a bad penalty. Years ago issues like that were settled on the ice during the same game so it wouldn't carry over from game to game. Unfortunately the NHL has changed since then and stuff like this is brought into future games and bad incidents like this happen. Part of this problem is the instigator rule, IMO.

Moore did fight that night against Matt Cooke. However, Matt Cooke is one of the smallest guys on the Canucks and he isn't a very good fighter. Needless to say, Cooke didn't fair too well in the fight against Moore therefore the Canucks probably felt as though nothing was settled in that altercation. You must also keep in mind this game took place in Vancouver, the Canucks were embarrassed because they were getting blown out at home in an important game and sometimes emotions take over and cloud your mind of better judgement. I'm not condoning what Bertuzzi did, I'm just trying to explain the situation from a different point of view.

There are a lot of unwritten rules in hockey, and one of them is you don't take runs at the star players unless you are prepared to face the consequences. Clean hit or not, Moore took a run at Naslund and injured him. Hockey players have long memories and aren't going to forget that. Usually there are a few fights, and then it is over. Unfortuntately in this situation it didn't work out that way and a player got seriously injured and another player put a huge black eye on his reputation as a hockey player. Hopefully something like this doesn't happen again in the future.

Hockey gets a bad reputation for things like this happening but in reality usually the players are able to police themselves for the most part and there aren't any major problems like this. I'm sure everybody learned a few things from this unfortunate incident.

   

Moore was a mediocre player at best, and from whats been reported in the media he may never return to play in the NHL.. (if the NHL ever returns LOL)
His eye sight is still off as is his balance too.. unless hes made tremendous progress in the last month..

   

In that case Bertuzzi may never be back it the rate Moore is healing

   

well Rh if I were a so so player with a nowhere career I would be slow healing for the big lawsuit payout myself after all we are getting more and more like that since our constitution. I would be willing to bet if a club came up and offered him a four year deal he would heal.

   

Moore's very educated anyways, a Harvard graduate... he could get himself a good job. He was never and never would be a great hockey player.

Bertuzzi hopefully will be reinstated into the NHL soon, and be able to play for Team Canada like he really wants to do. Canadians cheer for him still.

   

i am not one to judge but if there is going to be no more hockey they should just let him go and just fine him more

   

He sucks throw him out of the league throw the Canucks out too there nothing but a bunch of perrenial losers never won the cup and now with there new shitty Gm never will sorry canuck fans but Nonnis has just proved me right they have done nothing but get weaker I'll put money on it they won't even make the playoffs

   

Moore will never be back in Colorado.. they didn't offer him a new contract and won't once he is healed... According to the NHLPA.. moore can't be released from the team since he is injured and it happened in a game. Colorado though has not paid a cent of his medical bills or his salary since the season ended. Moore was to be a free agent at the end of that season. and it was doubtful that he would have recieved a renew. The NHLPA has been bucking up the cash for Mr. Moore since he has been off.

Mr moore will see a substancial payday when this is all set out and down civilly.. Although he does have to assume a small portion of the risk of playing.

Biggest question isn't regarding Steve.. he will get better make a good life for himself in business/ law whatever.. better than the short career he would have had as an NHL'r how will this affect Steve's bother who is set to come out of university in 2 years.. he is an NHL capable player.. will the law suit and everything else affect his career.

Thing to remember is what bertuzzi did was stupid,and ill timed. he will be back in the league shortly.. just I hope betman gets off his ass one way or another.. deal with it mr bettman.. don't just walk away.....

okay thats done now here's the side on Steve Moore that no one is going to like.. but he did it.. so he sort of has to live with the whirlwind.. reap the whilwind so to speak.. Moore took out naslund.. cheep or not Markus was in a vulnerable position. 2 days later or so he checks Martin St.Louis from behind into the boards.. In one week that little halo wearing angel not only took nassy out of the game for a couple of months but could have killed St. Louis.. the leagues MVP that season.
He had several times during that season where he cheap shot a extra ordinate number of players.. even Tony Twist commented on him after the incident, that was how he was trying to make a name for himself.. You can't score.. You can't check.. You can't do a number of things that we need you to do.. what can You do kid?.. T. Twister also said at the time (him not me) during a game.. he would have subtly paid a visit in the corner to Mr. Sakic or Mr. Forsberg and remind them why they shouldn't have a player doing that.. It's called honor... Then he said I'd probably have to go with one of thier toughies... but every time I was on the ice I would inform them.. (constant hits) that he was unwelcome here....until Mr. Sakic or Mr. forsberg finally had enough of me they would invaribly tell him to F**K off...

   

yes lily but don't you remeber the day leading up to it.. Moore hit Naslund.. the media.. every radio station in Vancouver went Freakin Balistic..."cheap shot" i believe was the title off the back of the province newspaper... they then played the Avs again in thier own building in denver.. canucks won 1-0 tight hard fought battle.. Moore saw about 5 minutes ice the entire game.. most of it with Peter Worrel in his back pocket all over the ice.

Then it started.. everyday after that was the call to arms.. there was a countdown in the newspaper... "ya were going to litter the ice with him" people were calling into the radio shows it was the topic of discussion for about two weeks.. the countdown the big show.

Finally the day appears... Why Granato even had him in the line up that night was rediculous.. he could see the papers the avs arrived here the day before.. the media was all over them.. Granato puts him in the game.. he played 14 minutes that game in an 8-2 Avs victory. Did he dance with anyone.. no.. May, Rutuu,six or seven other canuck players.. no he just skates away.. but who does he choose to go with... vancouvers little mouth that roared Matt Cooke.. That infuriated the vancouver bench... Okay so the score is what it was.. the Vancouver team is down, they are mad in a mean nothing game at this point.. Granato sends Moore on the ice with Nicholisian and another european.. and keeps Worrell .. the only player who by his presence has kept Mr Moore alive in this hostile place, onthe bench. So not only does Mr Granato rub the loss in the faces of the canucks and thier fans, but puts the main focus of everyone on the ice out thier without protection..

Steve skates down the ice and bertuzzi skates onto thw wing position.. they skate down the ice together.. a few plesanrties are exchanged. the whack at each other a couple of times down the ice.. while bertuzzi is yakin at him moore agian turns his back on Tod. Tod infuriated Gloved punches him in the side of the head..... and down Goes steve moore..

The fans go absolutely crazy people cheering jumping up and down.. guy at the bar next to me ( I was at a pub and not the game) says whoo hoo we finally got that little cock sucker haha...... the pile of 6 or so players on top of steve finally grounds to a halt.. It is only then we see the direct action of what precipitated.. Bert falls on steve.. two avs players jump on bert 2 canucks players jump on the avs all on top of steves head as it ground into the ice at 15 mph.

Not a pleasant site... thats when the finger pointing starts... It was him officer it was him he did it... no not us we weren't involved at all...
What bert did was stupid and he will live with that the rest of his life.

The media, the fans, everyone wanted thier bloodsport.. everyone wanted a piece of Moore.. the cheer when he first went down.. My god You thought they just scored... It's when the blood hits you're hands.. oh oh oh.. not me officer it was that big guys with #44 yep he's the one.


Bert didn't go out there with the intention of killing steve moore or with the intention of seriously injuring steve.. Todd wanted retribution for what happened to his pal and captain.. His anger welled up more and more .. the more steve yapped with him down the ice and the more he just skated away... Moore had to know something was going to happen.. this serious though never....I'd really like to know what exactly was going through Tony Granato's head before, during and after the incident.... Bert hit him and his world changed forever.. and so did Steve moores.
