The boys just won the gold medal against Finland and now, the girls' first game is against (you guessed it) Finland.
The semi-final games will be tomorrow to determine who plays in the gold/silver and bronze medal games on Sunday.
Canada vs Switzerland
USA vs Czech
Rather surprising that both Finland and Sweden are not in the final 4 this year as usually they have strong teams.
Good for the Czech team in winning their first medal in the IIHF Women's Worlds! They defeated the Swiss team for the bronze this morning.
Canada - USA to play for gold shortly.
Canada wins 2-1!!!
A fantastic game that easily could have gone either way. Low scoring and low shooting as well as these two teams battled it out. The US team had unreal chances in the last couple of minutes after they pulled their goalie but our gals hung in there.
*Bump*
Sorry for the minor necro (only from September '22 so not so bad)
I just realized how coincidental it is that the match-ups for tomorrow's medal games in the IIHF Women's Worlds 2023 is the same as it was in 2022.
Switzerland vs Czechia for Bronze
Canada vs USA for Gold
Finland-Sweden playing for 5th/6th placements.
I work tomorrow so will miss 2 of the games but should make it home for the 2nd period of the Canada-USA game. It will be a close one for sure.
Damn! Canada loses to the USA for gold but we got the silver!
Czech wins bronze yet again.
Finland beat Sweden for 5th placement.
