Hi everyone,

Im new to the boards today and I am looking for some information if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Im currently 21 years old and I turn 22 next month, I played hockey from the age of 6 to 12 and I had my final year at age 12 my dad took me out because he was having problems with the coach.

Anyway last night I hit the ring for the first time in 9 years I baught a pair of skates a stick and went out and I had more fun in that 1 hour on the ice than iv had in the past months. I felt like wind on the ice and I could still skate great and handle the puck and still shoot.

My question is, is it still possible for me to play competitive hockey? I want to play really badly but im not sure where to go. Im 6'3 230 pounds and in great shape is my size up to par with todays players? Im from Winnipeg, Manitoba and if anyone has any info please let me know its greatly appreciated.

Thanks all have a good day.

Check out your local senior hockey team. They are probably the only competitive teams for somebody your age. I would sugest that you go and watch a couple of games. Try and judge yourself against there level of play.

Thats all I can think of...

Enjoy the Hockey

I think you're stuck with beer league or pick up hockey from now on. Also this would have been your last year as an overage Junior player, which I believe only 3 per team is allowed.
Beer league sounds low brow quality but it really isn't. It's from these leagues that players are recruited for teams that want to compete for the Allan Cup. I play with lots of guys that have played for and won this cup. Lots of ex-pros and university guys on those teams. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allan_Cup

Winnipeg Men's leagues have all levels including body contact if you're up to it. Maybe the best thing to do is find a group of your friends that have pick up ice and start from there.
