The only thing caught here was an ugly incident that perptuates a couple negative stereotypes. This was a game for 12 year olds and the `parents` were pissed that the officials were breaking up fights.....thugs in the stands and thugs in the making on the ice....obviously one of the assholes titled this video as the kid was knocked down, not smashed. both teams should have been booted along with their parents
The coach needs to be charged with assault and banned from coaching. Kids lose control and it`s the coach`s job to be the cool head and control them. He should have recognized this kid was going too far, and benched him until he cooled off. Instead, he demonstrated an inability to exercise tea management skills and set a piss poor example by attacking the official.
Coach should be charged with assault and removed from coaching forever. The ref has the responsibility to separate the players, especially when the one kids hacks at the other kid in a gutless move.
No doubt, calls of racism will soon follow if the coach is charged and he happens to be Native Canadian.
And, when they don't make the NHL like they expect to they can always move to Vancouver and take part in any post Stanley Cup festivities their peers organize.
Here`s another video that`s better. In it, you can clearly see the ref gets knocked over by the kid who is reacting to being slashed, onto the kid who did the slashing. Then while the ref is being assaulted by the coach there are other kids slashing at them with their sticks...definitely not Sagkeeng`s finest moment.
What`s funny, despite the video showing nothing of the sort, the bitch that birthed this little thug insists the ref picked her kid up and threw him to the ice, rather than falling on him after being knocked off balance, as the camera clearly shows.
Winnipeg police seek answers in peewee hockey scuffle
$1:
Parents and coaches of two peewee hockey teams in Winnipeg want answers -- and so do police – about how an on-ice scuffle with a referee ended with a broken arm for one player. The incident happened Sunday, during the final minutes of a game between teams from the Brokenhead Ojibway First Nation and the Sagkeeng First Nation as part of the Southeast Winter Tribal Days hockey tournament. A scuffle began around the Sagkeeng net. As referees pulled the kids apart, a Brokenhead player skated in front of the Sagkeeng bench and taunted players.
Player Kainen Bell, 12, slashed the Brokenhead player in front of the bench and the two began fighting. That's when one of the referees appeared to grab Kainen from behind and take him down to the ice, falling on top of him. "it just went black for like 3, 4, 5 seconds... like 4 or 5 seconds," Bell told CTV Winnipeg. Video taken from the stands and posted to YouTube showed a tense scene, with one parent screaming, "Get your hands off my kids!" and others cursing at the ref and telling him, in graphic language, to get off the ice. Bell's parents, who are also coaches, admit tensions were high at the game but they wonder why the referee was so rough on their son. They say it appears from videos that the ref didn’t just try to separate the two players, but instead grabbed their son. "It shows him grabbing him by the back of the armpits and twirling, pivoting, slamming him on the ice," says Kainen’s father Robert Bell. “People are saying that he fell, but it doesn't look like a fall,” added his mother, Brenda Bell. Coaches rushed onto the ice after the ref and the player hit the ice and began their own scuffle. The ref eventually got up and skated off the rink, throwing his helmet onto the ice as he went. Kainan's forearm was broken in the fracas and he’ll be out of play for at least a couple of weeks. His parents say they will be consulting with a lawyer on who should be held accountable. They say the ref could've done a better job to control the situation. "He could've prevented it by... You know, that female ref contained three kids better than a 6’6” guy did," says Kainen’s father. Allen Hocaluk, the coach from the opposing Brokenhead team, says none of this should have happened at a peewee league game, but that the refs handled the situation the way they should have. "I thought that both refs that reffed the second game were definitely in control. They did a great job," he says. Winnipeg Police say they're looking at all videos of the incident taken by spectators, as well as surveillance video that may have captured anything that happened on or off the ice. They're also taking statements. "If charges are warranted, we will move forward with them. But right now, I am not confirming we are moving forward with those charges,” Winnipeg Police Service Const. Jason Michaylshen told reporters.
Apparently this Bell kids parents are supposedly also coaches.....
part of a coaches job is to control their players, especially at this age. The coach should have had this kid(the slasher) riding the pine. The coach has piss poor team management skills and set a horrible example for these kids. He should be banned from coaching, and the teams and parents barred from competition.
The videos clearly show the ref was knocked over(unintentionally) by the kid who was reacting to being slashed from behind. The ref fell on top of the kid he was stopping from fighting and then the coach jumped on them....who knows how or who caused the injury to the little thug. Just waiting for the race card to be played. From what I`ve heard, the bitch screaming profanities on the tape was the `mother`.
I can't tell if the Ref. slipped or was pushed. What I do see is that after the fall the Ref. shields the kid on the ground with his own body so he is not attacked by the player in blue. I then see a coach(?) come up and put what looks like a choke hold on the Ref.
The latest on this, is that two twelve year old players were arrested for assault with a weapon. The coach who attacked the ref was charged with assault in April. The ref was never charged with anything despite the screams from the primate enclosure. Some hockey parents
