Well it all begins this Wednesday, round 1 of the playoffs.

The match-ups are:

Tampa Bay vs Columbus
Boston vs Toronto
Washington vs Carolina
NY Islanders vs Pittsburgh
Nashville vs Dallas
Winnipeg vs St. Louis
Calgary vs Colorado
San Jose vs Las Vegas

Too bad that only 3/7 Canadian-based teams are in it this year though.

Tampa Bay has had such an amazing season I wouldn't be surprised to see them go all the way but upsets have been known to happen. I guess we shall wait and see.

Does anyone want to share their predictions for round 1?

Thanos @ Sun Apr 07, 2019 5:42 pm

No predictions because I'm always wrong with these things. Flames have the potential to do great but given their history of tanking in the playoffs there should be no surprise if they get knocked out in the first round again. As for Tampa I can't see anyone stopping them. They're like a throwback to the Gretzky-era Oilers in that they have near-total dominance in all parts of their game. In terms of no surprises there shouldn't be any shock to anyone at all if Tampa won the Cup in twenty games, or less, across all four rounds. They are that damn good to be able to do it.

I had thought Montreal would make the playoffs this year. Too bad they didn't quite make it.

Tampa Bay in 4, the only thing that can stop TB is Angry Ovi

Washington in 5, although Ovi does not look as mad as last year.

Pittsbug in 6

Nashville Predators in 6, more Dallas choking incoming

Jets in 7, a teambreaking 7,

Calgary in 5, this team looks better than 1989.

Vegas in 6

Boston / Toronto. Well here is a series I don't want to watch.
The real question is which team I do hate more ?
Actually, easy answer... it's Boston, hands down.

1940..... nah... sixty seven.

However, for any Leafs fan reading this........ Boston gonna sweep....

If I get one right I'll consider it a tremendous victory because so far it's never happened.

I have two teams I generally follow in the playoff's. No one is picking either of them to make it out of the first round. [cry]

Don't worry about it at least your teams made it in. For alot of us that would have been considered a win. [cry]

Unfortunately my team has more of a language problem than a talent one. Mine would rather hire their front office and coaching staff based on their language skills than on their ability to win and this PC attitude has led to decades of futility, frustration and anger from the non PC fans of this team.

N_Fiddledog @ Thu Apr 11, 2019 6:24 pm

I don't understand it. All of a sudden I find myself hoping for Toronto. That never used to happen.

Cause Boston, that name I keep hearing "Marchand", old wounds and all that, I guess.

Whatever...

Go Leafs

WTH is with this Columbus-Tampa series? 8O

Columbus takes a 2-0 lead in the series.

I freaking love it!

xerxes @ Fri Apr 12, 2019 7:44 pm

Right. Watch Tampa be the first team to be swept. Which would be a shame in some ways. I still hate John Torterella.

NWORNG, jabroni! 8O

It will be one of the great upsets of all time if Columbus pulls this off, given that they finished 30 points behind Tampa in the regular season. This one is like freaking unbelievable given the disparity in offensive strength between the two teams. So, once again 8O 8O 8O
