I guess they weren't getting anywhere with the Gretzky story.

I can honestly say that I never heard of Moore, until the Bertuzzi incident, Todd put him on the proverbial map. I thought that this was a dead issue, I guess I was wrong.
What ever happened to "skate it off!"

I think it is funny. It wasn't even the punch that hurt him, give it up.

You're right.....and you never would have again either. He's an AHL level player who's hit the gravy train by getting punched. That's why the amount he's suing for is a joke......he'd have never made that kind of money with any career in hockey. Granted he had enough talent to get a sniff at the most elite hockey league in the world, but his talent wouldn't have been enough to keep him there with a big contract.

I'd heard of Moore before the attack, but that's a red herring anyways. 2003-04 was Moore's first full season in the NHL (well it would have been). Prior to that he worked hard after being drafted and finally made it after spending two years in the minors. While he might have been a checking forward his entire career, it's likely no one will ever know how good he could have been. Teams needs Draper-types to win the Cup just like they need Bertuzzi-types and Lecavlier-types.

If someone attacked you and ended your career as a "insert career here", you'd be pissed and want justice. Most people get attacked by scumbags with no money who actually wind up in prison. This time, the attacker is someone who is plenty wealthy and got off because he was a star, so why not sue him? If O.J. can get sued, then why not Bertuzzi?

I definitely do not agree with the timing of the lawsuit but Bertuzzi essentially got off with a slap on the wrist. You guys can say what you want, but forfeiting $750,000 out of a $5 million plus salary is not punishment enough for what he did. If I did that same thing, I'd likely to wind up in prison getting sodomized.

I'm all for second chances, but Bertuzzi never paid much of a price and wasn't adequately punished for his crime in the first place.

Lets see:
Kid Graduated from Harvard University.. in the LAW program. Decided to play hockey professionally. played in the NHL as a 4th liner.. (but yes he did play in the NHL)
Before the Bertuzzi incident Mr. Moore was used primarily as a checking center or winger.. was he effective.. for the most part yes. It is when he got it into his head to run and injure players off other teams that there was a problem.
Just ask Martin St. Louis what he thinks of Moore (hit from behind that could have ended Martin's career, knee to knee hit on Mike Modano that put Mike out for a couple of games. The elbow to Marcus Naslund's head in a compromised position that put Marcus out.
Mr Moore in his own chicken shit way avoided Lacavalier and several lightning players, the stars Bill guerin and several Stars players and several players off the Canucks. In my opinion -This little chicken shit lawyer scumbag was trying to go through the league making a name for himself by taking out the best players. He had and has no respect. His Brother Dominic is 5 times the player that Steve will ever or would have been.

this is what he's suing for.. and why isn't the case being filed in Vancouver. huh....
Moore is seeking $15 million in pecuniary damages for loss of income, $1 million for aggravated damages and $2 million in punitive damages.

His parents, Jack and Anna, who were watching on television when Bertuzzi blindsided Moore, are suing for $1.5 million "for negligent infliction of nervous shock and mental distress."

The lawsuit claimed that "Anna was screaming and crying hysterically. Jack was utterly frozen in shock..."
I think hockey fans should sue the Moore family for putting us through this crap every time hockey has a showcase.. as I said before Ted Danson..(the lawyer not the guy off cheers), Steve Moore and his mentally Distressed Parents"... The gravy train just left.. FUCK OFF.

Not enough eh.. No World Cup (for team Canada) appearance being out of the league for over a year ( yes i know the league was shut down) Even if they would have played hockey in 2004-2005 Bert would have sat most of if not the entire season and forfieted his entire Salary for that year. As it turns out he was not paid (along with everyone else) but he couldn't play in Europe or Russia because of the NHL suspension he was IIHF suspended. So he sat out. now he has to go into every arena in the league and listen to the Boos of the crowd.. I can see it in Colorado.. even in Vancouver cuase he's not playing very well. but columbus, nashville.. Edmonton, Calgary... Come on get your heads out of your asses.. he made a mistake.... thats al my tirade is over.....l

Well, if he could have served 30 years in the NHL at the bottom of the pay scale...oh...yeah...FUCK OFF Moore!

 Do you seriously believe it was the punch that hurt him? I am more likely to think it was the pile on, or when he hit the ground. Bertuzzi's punch knocked him off balance, much like a crosscheck or body check would have.

Let's not go there again.... I think we have a whole thread about it somewhere.....

$1:
His parents, Jack and Anna, who were watching on television when Bertuzzi blindsided Moore, are suing for $1.5 million "for negligent infliction of nervous shock and mental distress."

The lawsuit claimed that "Anna was screaming and crying hysterically. Jack was utterly frozen in shock..."

Hmm lets see.. so that girl I saw in real life not on TV get hit and crushed by a transit bus.. ( she was riding a bike, got nailed and went under.. We placed the call 911 but she was dead before she hit the ground.. and definately after the bus rolled over her.. Gave written evidence that was used in court.. Bus driver never had a chance to stop.. one second nothing next second girl on bike.. smack.... I was standing on a corner waiting to cross..

Did I have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) after seeing that yes... Did I throw up shortly after the ambulance arrived yes... but who do I sue.. the bus company.. the bus driver, the city of vancouver, the makers of her bicycle.. the dead girl... brian burke and the vancouver canucks.. (cause it was near GM place)

Moore's parents are sitting 4,000 miles away watching on TV, they see thier son go down on a vicious hit .. were they concerned of course.. but "Anna was screaming and crying hysterically. Jack was utterly frozen in shock" thats just a little more than I can actually believe.. had she never seen her son play before.. get into fights etc as he was growing up...."screaming and crying hysterically and frozen in shock"so thats worth hmm.. about $1.5 million.. ya okay whatever.....

canucker @ Wed Feb 15, 2006 7:18 pm

I hope their case gets thrown out. Everyone has been in or witness some kind of traumatic event. Should we all sue?
