I'm positive that Edmonton will make the playoffs. It might be close but they will.

The Canucks on the other hand... looking doubtful but miracles can happen. It's not official YET! 8)

 I'm looking forward to see the giant Russian defenseman, I haven't seen him play yet

Leave him be. He's developing his snarl. He'll be ready next season. :D

Strutz @ Sat Mar 18, 2017 11:47 am

Tryamkin has been doing well so far.

I agree Fiddle, he's still developing and learning to use his size out there. I can see him becoming a key player in the future.

I'm not hating Reid Boucher, as far as new guys go either. He looks like maybe he can supply some offense at least. Eventually hopefully soon. Maybe tonight.

I'm enjoying these games. I'm fine with the team tanking to get the high draft picks in June at this point. So I can just sit back and watch the kids develop, Go Edmonton tonight.

Yes, as the Fishing guy said, there's no Matthews or McDavid at this year's draft, but Benning wants a center to develop and another prospect (on top of Juolevi) to be the power play quarterback on defense. Who knows?

Maybe we might have to tank next year too. They say 2018 is looking like a power draft. In the meantime strength below the first line and on either side of center keeps developing. Won't be too many years now. You can have the game tonight Edmonton, but we'll win the race to the cup.

Then the Dynasty years begin. 8)

Vancouver at Edmonton

71

CANUCKS (28-33-9) at OILERS (37-24-9)

Goaltender Richard Bachman will make his second start for the Vancouver Canucks, who look to end a five-game losing streak (0-3-2). Bachman made 43 saves in a 2-1 win at the Anaheim Ducks on March 5, his only start this season. Bachman, who played nine games over two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, was recalled from Utica of the American Hockey League on Feb. 27 after Jacob Markstrom sustained a lower-body injury. "I look forward to these opportunities and coming back to Edmonton is going to be fun," Bachman, 29, said. "There is always something a little extra there when you're playing a team that you used to be on. You look forward to going out there and competing and trying to beat them." Defenseman Christopher Tanev is expected to return after missing the past three games with food poisoning; he participated in the morning skate Saturday and will be a game-time decision. Vancouver is playing the first game of a five-game road trip. The Canucks are sixth in the Pacific Division, 14 points behind the St. Louis Blues for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference with 12 games remaining.

Puck drop at 7:00pm PT

Man if that second period would have been 30 seconds longer the game would be tied.

He roughed up Jamie Benn enough that he couldn't play last night in Calgary.

Granlund came close a couple of times already. He's gonna get one.

*edit*
Nevermind....

Good effort by the guys tonight though.

Well I hope the Oil have a playoff spot by the time they have to play the last 2 games of the season against the Canucks.

N_Fiddledog @ Sat Mar 18, 2017 10:15 pm

Good game. Tense with lots of opportunities.

One of these days Willie's going to teach the kids the trick about how it's OK to put the puck in the net too. Then these other teams will be sorry for all the times they picked on us, boy howdy.
