Canada's Supreme Court Upholds Ban on Airing Election Results
Bloomberg Bloomberg:
While the ban infringes on people's right to free expression, such infringement is justified by the need to maintain the appearance that the election system is fair to all, Judge Michel Bastarache said on behalf of the 5-4 majority in a ruling released today in Ottawa.
On the same day two Nova Scotia universities banned a race based debate.
University cancels controversial debate about race in Canada
Is Freedom of Speech in Canada only encouraged if you are burning a flag or attacking Catholics?
Yeah I guess the 5 turds that voted yes don't have a computer that goes out of the Canadian websphere. stupid fools.
as for the debate
"The debate is about whether Canada's race diversity is a strength or weakness for the nation"
That's a easy one to answer why they shit canned it.

I guess the judges don't understand the use of the googles on the interweb............
I think this thing could all be resolved if they'd simply keep the counts under wraps until after all polls are closed.

Ok, this is scary, I agree with hurley again..............
Of course, if they did that, the talking heads at CBC, CTV and Global would have nothing to talk about until 2330 their time in the centre of the known universe.

That would be fine with me. I'd be happy to wait until the next morning to get the results - at least then they're pretty firm and final. Watching the seat counts flip flop around may be entertaining, but it doen't provide any real information.

Being out here on the East coast I have always enjoyed watching the elections unfold across the country. It would be torture for me to be on the West coast.
Not sure what the Court hoped to accomplish with this ruling though. All it would take a compliant blogger in the US and his email addy.............
