Next Saturday thousands of Canadians will be showing solidarity for the Wal Mart workers who want to unionise. Join them at your local protest.
more info?
I was in our local's headquarters in Ottawa yesterday as I was up there taking some activist training and posted myself a link to the local campaign in Kingston, http://www.geocities.com/capitolhill/lobby/8775/ Your local labour congress, or your own union hall should know about it. If they don't; tell them. Let's kick some Wal Mart ass Canadians!
But my new scope and mount are in for my SKS and I'll be shooting some targets next weekend.
As soon as they're both fixed up I'll shoot a pic of them and show you mu SKSs. One is done up like an assault rifle; painted black, pistol grip stock , large mag. etc. and the other has a Dragunov stock and now this scope and mount.
This may be a little off the subject but still pertains to Wal-Mart though;
A french co-anchor by the name of Charron on the news (TVA a French Canadian news channel) called Wal-Mart Nazis.... Now isn't that going a little bit on the extreme!!!!!!!
That dumbass should have been fired for comments like that. And they say that the French media is not filled by propaganda?????
Now.... I don't work for Wal-Mart therefore I don't really care if they are unionized or not. As long as they don't raise prices.
Unions are a wonderul thing have especially in a Capitalistic Society. An organization of wage earners formed for the purpose of serving the members' interests with respect to wages and working conditions.
Otherwords: individuals were fed up with the working conditions of their environment and decided to ban together for the betterment of that job enviironment, as well as to make their personal lives more desirable.....
For example: Myself and 12 other at my place of employment are members of a local union. We did this because of mismanagement of the company who blatantly lied and deceived us for their own personal gain. After false promises of wage increases, COLA, etc they told us in no uncertain terms that they don't have to honor what they told us. As a "employee at will" we were at their beck and call for whatever they decided to have us do for the day. Now since we are in a union environment, I believe we are alot more productive and happier. I never could see myself holding certain positions within the company without the benefits of a union environment....Unions are the only way.
Like the pic Flyman
I am a professional, and as such cannot be a member of an organized trade union. When I don't like working for someone, I have to look for something better and go get it.
When these people applied for jobs at WalMart, they were probably so excited to hear that they were hired. WOohoo! Steady income! Then they get to feel entitled somehow. Hey, I should be treated better!
If you don't like the job, go find another one. You knew the terms when you signed up.
My two cents.

However we are all tired of Walmart trying to run America and the world for that matter! Its not necessarily about wages, benefits, etc.... Its what corporate greed is doing to America itself. Walmart is only one of the hundreds of retail giants that are getting rich at the hands of its workers. Each and every one of these giant retailers believe that they are untouchable. Guess what... Realiity is going to bite back very hard in the next two months!!! Just start watching the news the next couple of months and you will see G. W. getting very fidgety in the white house.......
Why are the workers (ASSOCIATES) being treated like crap while the big boys roll up another $100.00 bill and light their cigars with it? Is it fair to the Walmart "Associates", or as I call them "slaves" to be treat like they are by the management? If you are a Walmart "Associate" I strongly suggest that you watch the news the next couple of months.... The push for Unionization is coming to a Walmart near you!!!
Oh by the way I will be the one wearing the Local Teamsters Union T-shirt and sweatshirt trying to help you out. Believe it or not there are those amongst the bargaining units that believe in a workers rights whether or not you are in a union. We are just tired of the corporate retards trying to make policy to fit their needs, not for the benefit of their employees....
If you want to tell a business how to run itself, you should start one. Unions can play an important role on keeping employers in check - especially when it comes to safety. Having said that, most unions become mafia bullies that just keep going on strike for more money.
If Canadians and Americans really didn't want WalMart - nobody would shop there, and they would go bankrupt. You can picket if you want, but millions of people vote every day - when they shop there and purchase goods.
If they are in fact "Abusing" employees, there are laws in place to protect them from that.
I would like to hear from someone with some details on the actual issues that are the reasons behind the organization drive. This is an honest question, and I don't want to hear more general "they don't treat their employees right" etc etc. Specifically, what are the issues?
