Ain't Groundhog Day enough already? It also happens to be the birthday of my niece, Meggin.Image

DMP08 @ Sun Sep 19, 2004 1:04 am

You don't get a stat for Groundhog Day though. I think that is what we're
going for.

figfarmer @ Sun Sep 19, 2004 10:07 pm

I'll vote for that. Can I vote for global warming here too? I think it's a great idea.

There is actually a holiday here in Alberta...all thanks to Ralph Klein...Myself, after living in BC for many years, wasn't used to this holiday and actually I think it's a stupid but sort of good idea...

It's called Family Day.

$1:
Alberta Family Day is celebrated on the third Monday of February. It is a statutory holiday in Alberta.
Alberta Family Day was declared to recognize the values held by the pioneers who built Alberta and the values of home and family.

Family Day is recognized as a General (statutory) Holiday under the Alberta Employment Standards Code. This means that employees who qualify may be entitled to have the day off and receive General Holiday pay.

but there should be a national holiday for remembrances day

Ice_man @ Sun Oct 10, 2004 11:21 am

I fully agree, Remembrance Day should be a National Holiday. All stores closed (except maybe beer stores and Legions)

Keep your stick on the ice.

Do you have your head in the ground every single november 11th and don't pay attention to cbc or something?

Parasoldier @ Sat Nov 06, 2004 5:27 am

Remebrance Day is not a national holiday. Some provinces have a day off to remember but not all (for example Ontario).
It should be a holiday. Half day for students so they can be educated on the troops that gave lives for us in the morning and have to attend services. If not, most kids would go and play their playstations all morning.
