I don't. Those tards in Quebec have too much time on their hands.

If they were actually paying attention, they would have noticed that we have already been taken over by the Asians.

It is important to keep our own independant thoughts and ways. North America is often lumped together even when we're not in agreement. Some seperation is nesicary. Besides we have not gotten a very good deal in previous trade agreements. I doubt this would go any better.

No kiddin. I don't like that people in the US are called Americans. Um, last time I checked there was over a score of countries on the North and South AMERICAN continents.

What should they be called then? Americans of the United States? Yankee can be offensive to some, like Canuck or Limey.

That being said, I do not like the idea of integration of national policies. Those often harm the weaker members and empower the stronger ones. Also, it doesn't look like it is working very well over in Europe, so why should it work here?

I agree- communing hardly ever benefits all. As for the call name for people in the US- I don't know. Maybe something like Uniters..lol

Background

Canadian, U.S., and Mexican elites, including CEOS and politicians, have a plan to create common North American policies and further integrate our economies.

This plan goes by various names:

Deep Integration
Harmonization
NAFTA-plus
the "Big Idea" (C.D. Howe Institute)
the "North American Security and Prosperity Initiative" (The Canadian Council of Chief Executives)
Americanization
Despite the fact that most Canadians want LESS integration with the United States under Bush, not more, this plan and the process of deep integration is unfortunately well underway. The Canadian government has already:

Created a Canada-U.S.-Mexico task force headed by former Liberal Deputy Prime Minister John Manley which is devising a plan to establish a continent-wide customs union with a common approach to trade, energy, immigration, law enforcement and security that would virtually eliminate existing national borders.
Created a bi-national military planning group (2002), soon expected to release a report recommending how the two countries' militaries can "work together more effectively to counter land-based and maritime threats." (See also: Deadline looms on continental defence project)
Signed the Canada-U.S. Smart Border Declaration which includes such points as shared customs data, a safe third-country agreement, harmonized commercial processing, etc. (see link for full list)

Established the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and agreed to harmonize Canadian regulations with U.S. regulations under the 40-Point Smart Regulation Action Plan

We are running out of time to stop the process of integration. Help us keep Canada strong and free. Please join us in our ribbon campaign and say NO to deep integration!

Part of this should be a call to reinstate the Foreign Investment Review Agency to stop American conglomerates from buying up Canadian companys. Brian Mulroney dissolved this agency and ever since Canadian companys have had no protection from foriegn takeovers. As a result, Canada now has WAY more foriegn ownership than ANY other nation.

This part is important!! We need the Foreign Investment Review Agency back!
Unless someone has a better idea to keep Canadian businesses Canadian...

simma2000 @ Thu Apr 28, 2005 1:43 am

i see, but does that not mean, if they get there own way they will keep trying to get their grubby hands on more and more of canada? spoke to my rels in ONT, they say there is talk of a common currency, policies
and a whole sh*t load of the usual bad american ideas. so what this means is, we have ballsed up our country, hey here's an idea lets try screwing up canada too and then we can RULE THE WORLD!!!! hope not keep canada canadian!!!!
