Quebec sucks Canada dry
I am extremely displeased that this Conservative government is falling into the old maxim of "liberal tory same old story" that was the hallmark of Mulroney, Clark and Campbell who were all really liberals. That Harper has started becoming a Liberal with mirrored policies like the 'look, hear see no evil' abortion law, increased gay privilages, lack of meaningful Senate reform and of course, now Quebec, one is left to with no other choice then to conclude that Ottawa corrupts and that the political party in power is realy powerless.

I wasn't impressed with Harpers "liberal" budget.
I really can't see much alternatives, considering Quebec and Ontario hold the balance of power. Even a CPC majority might be unable to change that.

I whole heartedly agree.
Yet the examples of Liberalism diplayed by Harpo and company, have stopped the leftoid deep thinkers from calling him a fascist and a nazi, nor has it stopped the Liberals from playing partisan politics, for the sake of political partisanship.
All politicians are slimy, no matter the colour of their stripe.

I'll agree with you about the liberal budget.
but cons have to give up on some issues like gay rights and abortion. You lost, move on. Harper has realized it, and so have most other conservative supporters. (lots of con supporters are for gay rights and abortion too)

Hence why I think we should be saying farewell to this dominion.

Even if we end up being socialists by being a part at least our money will be in our hands.

You think you will have more control over your own money under a socialist gov't???

At least it would be in B.C. not Ottawa.

I don't like either personally though. The NDP helped mess up the place here.

Oh you ment "apart", not "a part". I get ya now.
I'm pickin' what you're throwin' down. But though your provincial wealth would remain in province, I don't think you'ld actually see more in your wallet, under a group like the ND'ohP.

You mean we are losing rather then "lost". Gay privilages are an ongoing issue with new privilages being added to the list on a continual basis. Further, Canada and the Supreme Court are waiting for its Parliamentarians to create some kind of abortion law but no government has had the gonads to address the problem.
The problem with Quebec is bill 101, the laws that force everyone to conform to French OR ELSE. Now these laws are 30 years and look at what they give them. These same people are currently screaming that the muslims are going too far with what is being deemed 'reasonable accomodation'. What they don't realize or won't admit is that they only people left in the world that are really using French on a daily basis are North African Muslims. So, they claim to want a French culture but only on their terms. This is a problem going on all over so I will gloss over it. The real problem with Quebec is that its politicians lie and pander (Liberals ALWAYS pander), and you could argue that in and of its self no big deal, however the economy of Quebec is artificial, held together with wishful thinking, taxes and equalization payments. They claim they want to be distinct and yet 100000+ native Quebecers leave every year never to return, because of bill 101 no new investment comes in because they are harrassed and fined to pay for, among other things, the huge civil service. They spend millions and millions of dollar's rebuilding the same stretches of road year after year so that come winter the EI benifits will come from Ottawa and keep the economy semi stable. But thats not enough because those civil servants cannot be fired, and they don't draw EI, just high pay till pension time. So they raise the taxes, taxes that the econmy is not generating, because companies go over the border to NB, Ontario and New York state, thus not longer haveing to comply with the language police and saving themselve no end of headaches and lots of capital, capital that is then reinvested locally, giving a lower tax need to those areas. So then they say ok let train our populous and we will generate more taxes, but these people just go elsewhere when they are done and Quebec City screams for more money from Ottawa, all the while places like NFLD struggle, and Quebec screams "separation'. One of the liberal platforms in the current popularity contest..err I mean election, is to fix the health care system. Last year three nurses, failed to pass the FRENCH WRITTEN EXAM that they are forced to take inorder to perpetuate '101' and they were FIRED. Oh, they spoke French just fine, but couldn't write it very well so they got let go. After about three weeks they were offered another chance to take the exams but they refused, why you ask? Two had already found work in NB and one went to Ontario. Quebec has a huge shortage of trained medical staff because of the language laws and these politicians tell them they can fix it. They don't tell them look if you want to live the 'american dream' you have to strike down these rediculous laws they say don't worry just vote for us and we will work on it. Pandering at its finest. You turn on the radio inMontreal and you here many DJ's speaking French but when the music plays it is English top 40, movie theaters that offer films in French close all the time, and the liquidation bins are filled to the brim with Hollywood titles that noone buys because they are dubbed in French. Quebec has alot to offer industry what with the port of Montreal and it's command of cheap electricity, dispite that it is still cheaper to set up shop in other places and ship it in on a truck, the politicians neglect to tell them that also, they neglect to mention the Plains of Abraham too. The languages laws don't stop the youth from saying this like 'c'est cool' or stop the main draws for concerts to be top 40 pop music acts. They do however cause people to leave and find work or create work elsewhere, leaveing Quebec with a huge Government/civil service payroll; a payroll they meet by taking money from English Canada. I say we cut off the money and watch as they spiral into some sort of third world economy and Ottawa can give the money to NFLD. The at least it would be used for assitsing the overall state of Canada instead of throwing it down the fucking drain. Strike down Bill 101 and money will begin to be GENERATED INSIDE QUEBEC. This will bring the taxes down and lessen the need for so fucking much of the surplus to be sent there. Make it a place where the rest of the Country can do business and so many of its native sons and daughter would not leave. Either that or let them separate and laugh as they really crash. To sum up ..............................STRIKE DOWN BILL 101 YOU FUCKIN' MORONS

You lost, the legal system is just slow at catching up. Walk around the streets, you're in the minority when it comes to these things. Go to a high school or elementary school, teachers are encouraging the education of those things. Your argument will be obsolete in less than a decade

Ummm, what's the problem. Women can have an abortion if they so choose, no problem.
Gay people should have the same rights and priviledges as any other citizen and nothing more.
No problem.
The gov't needs to stay out of peoples underwear drawers, closets and bedrooms, so should the general public, if they don't like the porn that is.
