Whats the big deal? the EURO is going to kick our asses, NAU sounds like it has some merit.

   

It is a big deal, it is bad enough dealing with the massive bureaucracy we have in Ottawa, it would even be further removed with a NAU. The EU is the prototype for a NAU and gets its roots from marxist communism, it is all about corporate profit, and a form of corporate fascism. Once in place it will make the worst days of stalin's Russia look like a walk in the park. It will be an unmitigated disaster for everyone but the wealthy elite.

   

Do you have any idea what you are talking about? How does corporate fascism(if such a thing even exists) have its roots in communism?

   

You can rest easy djakeydd. Kenmore is correct. Every democrat in the race has come out against NAFTA, and Bush has killed the chances of any republican getting elected president. Put that together with more and more restrictions at the border and it should be obvious that we are growing farther apart, not closer. The is no way in hell Americans would put up with a meger with Canada and Mexico.

   

Well, lets get it straight, communism, fascism, very little difference. By corporate fascism, I refer to the situation in most industrial nations whereby massive, multinational corporations have way more sway with government than do their bosses, i.e., the people. Do you think corporations care about any citizens aspirations for sovereign nationhood? The NAFTA superhighway is a case in point, a 1/4 mile wide abortion of a road through the guts of the U.S. with expropriation of private property one of their main tools. This so called freeway will be for the exclusive use of corporate interests wishing to connect mega commerce for the 3 countries. The groundwork for this has been a wet dream of the elite for a while now, and is quickly coming to fruition. In terms of whether or not U.S. citizens will stand for a NAU, I doubt they can do much to stop it short of insurrection. I myself would prefer to die fighting these traitorous bastards as to watch what they have in store for North America.

You know, after a scrap of NAFTA the Canadian economy might suffer for a while. However, I think in the long run it would be the most healthy thing for the country because it will force us to do more things on our own, and to produce and to act like a real country instead of some economic colony of the United States.
