mapleleafsnation mapleleafsnation:
Pimpbrewski what about you shut up and stop making Canadians look bad with racist comments like that.

Another Noob joining in. Now, that's just great.

I have not said one word that would suggest anything about his race. On the other hand, there is the fact that Quebecers settled on this land long before that idiot. So he can go somewhere else about his Quebec bashing. I don't care how much taxes he forks out, but there is no proof and surely it has to be a joke. :)

Also, there are so many threads about Quebec that there is no need for another new one.

Eventhough you seem to want to provoke, I will keep away from the insults. But you should take a look at some older threads, these topics have already been mentioned. Now at least do that before telling anyone to shut up. :?

Maybe you should keep your comments for these kinds of threads. ROTFL

Maple Leafs out of playoff contention

Perhaps you didn't say anything about his life.

However you definitely make it sound like if white people were superior.

And the comment about immigrants is definitely xenophobic.

Immigrants should not have the right to complain is what you seem to be supporting.

Well let me tell you, we have freedom of speech. And as far as I know who cares what they look like, what their accent is, what language they speak, if they were born in Canada or not as long as their Canadian citizens.

He is a tax payer just like you, actually if he's not lying about paying 50 000$ in tax, he's probably paying more than your salary (basing myself on national income average). I'm pretty sure paying taxes is a good enough reason to question and perhaps complain about where they go.

What CommanderSock said, even though I disagree with it, is a view shared by many Canadian 'white ass' as you mentioned it. Heck I sometime hear things like Alberta would like to separate to keep their money. So I don't think he's trying to assimilate you. The British failed, Pimpbrewski, now stop being so scared of other cultures please.

What if they are not?

Perhaps you did not notice my last post of this thread. That's ok, at least take the time to read it before posting.

What, I say one word and all of a sudden, it's the word of the day 8O

And surely, you are the expert here. Ok. let's assume that it is 50k in taxes alone. If someone makes that much money, there are some tax loopholes. Surely, this has to be a joke. Then again, how do you know how much others make on this forum.....You could at least start by telling us how much you make. :D

For a Gatineau boy, you sure seem ignorant. Again, please read my last post. It should enlighten you on some facts. You have the freedom to choose how to respond to Quebec bashing whichever way you want, but I sure have the fucking right to respond the way I want to. But then again, people should be informed before stating their opinions. Like I said before, you seem to want to provoke, but I will be man enough not to resort to insults here. Ca fait que, calisse moé la paix, tabarnak.

Under my government, royalty money would be proposed mostly on the international scene to get peace plan moving.

CommanderSock CommanderSock:

You fuck as if my 50,000 (yes that is right, (50,000!!!, FIFTY MOTHERFUCKING THOUSAND!!!) that gets taken out of my annual salary. Second, don't give me that bullshit of grateful to live in this country, fuck you! I've been here for long enough, and have contributed too fucking much to sit quietly. Don't forget your white parents killed or evicted the natives off their own land.

Secondly, as a financial planner for one of the largest mortgage lenders in Canada, the tax rates are absolutely ridiculous. You little pickle, I understand how the federal transfer fully works, I had simplified it for the sake of discussion. Further simplification fucks like me are taxed heavily, the so called "haves", salary gets taxed to the point of have not status. Might as well ship my money off the Lichtenstein.

CommanderSock

You should be grateful to the country that gave you the opportunity to earn a six-figure salary. Before bashing Canada . Think about you would be doing if this country had not welcome your family . Probably pushing a cart in Karashi or preparing snake soup in Hong Kong …. So maybe you can say : Thanks Canada !!

What amazes me even more is that you come on a public forum and shits about the country that gave you a life !! And people make no big deal about it ; Canada is so PC that it allows immigrants ( or first gen. immigrants ) to come on public forums and bash the country that turned around their miserable and pitiful life into a decent one !!

You would never see that anywhere in the world but here in Canada. Can you imagine a FirstGen immigrant in Germany bash the country on a public forum because he pays too much income tax …. He would simply be crucified ! But here it’s OK ….

Commandersock , I would never hire such a P.O.S.like you as a Financial Planner !! Make sure your clients don’t read this forum, unless of course they are Mustafa’s and Samir’s that take advantage of this country !

Transfer payments are buying peace; CommanderSock’s outrage is not credible.

Well now.

This thread was definately worth the price of admission. ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

Benoit @ Sun Mar 30, 2008 7:09 pm

The money that is transfered is easy money; where there is no effort, there is no credible frustrations.

And you know this, how? And please, oh please, enlighten me as to what land was actually "owned" by natives prior to contact.
Whites idea of ownership was never universal back then, as it is seems like now. Indians had different interpretations of ownership. Were very territirial, why do u think the whites wanted a treaty cause they were getting tired of getting there wagons burned, and getting there ass kicked, which was an expression of "get the heel off the land or we will kill some more of you."

Last warning.

On topic.

Winnipegger @ Mon Mar 31, 2008 7:58 am

Let me try to help you guys get back on topic.

I have proposed that the federal government treat the debt as a mortgage. Set a fixed repayment schedule. I got excited about this when I saw Paul Martin announce a $17.1 billion surplus at his mid-year fiscal update in October 2000. If we were to cut spending to re-establish that and ensure it all goes to the principle of the debt, then take the total of interest plus principle and set it as a fixed total, we could do it. Just as the mortgage of a house, as you make payments to the principle it brings the outstanding debt down, which reduces interest payments. But keeping the total fixed means every dollar of reduced interest will increase payment to the principle by that same dollar. If we started right after the last federal election, it would have taken 16 years, then we're done.

Net revenue from the GST (after paying the cost of collections) is less than interest on the debt, so this would allow the Liberal party to fulfill its 1993 election promise to completely abolish the GST. However, during the last election most Liberal voters told me they would rather get rid of income tax. Ok, harder to do, and you can't get rid of both GST and income tax, but it can be done. If we raise the GST back to 7%, freeze corporate income tax (no increase but no decrease either), keep corporate capital tax gone, and a few other things, we can do it. One thing is to replace the GST rebate (now called the GST credit) with an income tax credit instead of quarterly cheques. Cost of managing the GST rebate cheques is so high we could make the income tax credit twice the current quarterly cheques, and pro-rate it to the income tax withholding from each and every paycheque, so taxpayers have more money in their pocket. Of course that means when personal income tax is completely abolished, all income tax deductions including the GST credit will go too.

A few catches: EI and CPP premiums pay for those programs, so the premiums have to stay. Provincial personal income tax is under the authority of the provincial government, so there's nothing the federal government can do about it. But this plan will completely abolish federal personal income tax. On your paycheque that is the box which says "federal income tax". Gone.

This doesn't require massive cuts to our social programs or provincial transfer payments, just paying off the debt. I have to emphasize, there are 3 taxes that raise 90% of all federal revenue: personal income tax, corporate income tax, and GST. It used to be higher, but after years of cuts to these taxes (yea!) it's down to 90%. If you pay off the debt you can only abolish one of them, not 2 and certainly not all 3. But if you don't pay off the debt you're screwed, you're stuck with all 3 taxes.

In 2007 there was a $17 billion surplus before the big tax cuts in the mini-budget. If the Conservative government applied all that to the debt, we could have already started. Debt payment for 2006 was $14.2 billion, not the $17.1 billion that I wanted, but close. The fact we had a $17 billion surplus for 2007 but squandered it is just so frustrating! Surplus from economic growth in 2008 could have been applied to modest tax cuts this year, but the Conservatives blew the whole wad last fall. Paying off the debt means completely abolishing income tax, not just this nickel-and-dime stuff.

Winnipegger @ Mon Mar 31, 2008 7:59 am

Oh, and I don't even MAKE $50k per year, much less pay that in taxes! Anyone who makes that much has nothing to complain about. Only once in my life did I ever earn more than that, and it didn't last a whole year. When I worked in Miami Florida, which is why the mortgage of my house is now paid. When I worked there I had to pay income taxes to BOTH the IRS and Revenue Canada (as it was called then). I got a copy of the bi-national income tax treaty from the IRS. It states they are allowed to do this, but anything I pay to the IRS must be deducted from income tax payable to Revenue Canada. However, Revenue Canada's tax form deducts foreign income tax pay from taxable income, not tax payable. That DRAMATICALLY reduces the deduction, they took way too much tax from me. And that was for the only 9 1/2 months in my life where I earned a high income. The Canada Revenue Agency (as it's now called) is requred to comply with the law, they are required to comply with international treaty. An "interpretation" cannot reverse any law or treaty.

I'm scratching for enough to earn a living. My little house is only 784 square feet, 2 bedrooms, part basement, single detached garage, a 1 3/4 story house. That is a 2 story house but the top floor has a 50° incline in the wall/ceiling starting 4'10" off the carpet. When I stand in the bathtub to take a shower the incline starts at my shoulder. That's 392 square feet per floor, including the stairs. Actually, that's what is says on paper, I measured 23'3" x 15'2" from the inside of the outer walls. That works out to 352.625 square feet per floor. The floor joists that form the basement ceiling are just 2" above my head, so I have to duck beneath the light fixture. Most of the basement is dirt crawl space, the part that's tall enough to stand in is enough for the furnace and water heater, a full size washer and dryer, and I can turn around. The basement is wet every spring when the snow melts, I use rubbermaid large plastic containers to hold stuff in the dirt crawl space so they don't get wet. My property is just 25 feet wide by 103.5 feet deep, from front side walk to back lane. There's a gravel parking space beside the garage.

Hardly a monster house, I'm sure anyone with a 6-figure salary will live much MUCH better than I. And there are some people who don't even have what I do. Less than 1% of Canadians get a 6-figure salary, be thankful for what you have.

Benoit @ Mon Mar 31, 2008 8:23 am

Equalization transfers focus on the differences in fiscal capacity of provinces. The limit of a fiscal capacity is achieved when a higher tax rate push economic agents to change their activities (to opt for their second-best alternatives).
