The harvest quota on sea rats (harp seals) has been reduced to about 270,000 from last years 335,000. There are more than 5.5 million sea rats eating a lot of fish and it seems to really piss off the French so I reckon its all good. Regardless, I don't think the Canadian government should have any say in the decision itself which should rest with NFLD.

This matter is more political than scientific.....
Sorta like AGW. as the 'cause celebre" the europeans make a great fuss but largely ignore their past efforts have only succeeded in putting many of our first nations on welfare.......where is the dignaty in that?????
Meanwhile the seal hunt is curtailed and the cod fishery collapses----seals eat fish...can't these politically correct fools connect the dots....
meanwhile the EU postures about the seal hunt while their factory ships "clear-cut" the cod fishery with lined nets. And the LIBRANOs did nothing.
