Canadaluvv Canadaluvv:
Seriously...like what the hell, people say the Canadians are friendly, but who the hell said that? Isn't that what the Canadians WISH for?

You see those Goddamn high school kids, many kids are smoking pot, and some of them just fight, and some of them end up in jail and some other end up in the hospital, and Canadians tell people that the Canucks are friendly.

But is it only me who thinks that the Canucks are just American wannabes? I think my friends in Texas were more friendly than those stupid High school potheads and some money-begging adults walking around the streets in Toronto.

Increasing Gun incidents, more crimes, more drug-addicted potheads in Vancouver, etc....

I love Canada

Yup.. you have somewhat of a point. Thank you MTV, Fox News, CNN, etc, etc, etc.

I have done quite a bit of travelling outside of Canada and noone but Canadians and a few American seem to know the stereotype that Canadians are friendly and polite. Most people think of snow and trees when they think of Canada and really have no opinion of Canadians at all.

Where does this polite stereotype come from? Did we make it up ourselves?

Yes, it's only you.

There are jerks everywhere and there are friendly people everywhere. The problem is that the good die young and assholes live forever.

I don't know where the stereotype of Canadian politeness originated, but I think it's one of the better stereotypes a country could be saddled with.
Maybe, CanadaHaate, we're more polite to visitors than to each other.

You're right, it is laziness on the media's part, but like I said, there are much worse stereotypes we could be given.

SgtMills @ Tue Aug 23, 2005 12:49 pm

okay havent any of you nits noticed that although Canadians can be rude an unfriendly if you look at Americans And people from other countries youll notice that Canadians are in GENERAL (special empasis here)more friendly than other people.

Dont we start fights with each other and have violence? Damn straight ! but thats violence and most of it comes from the US which has a lot more anyway.

Canadians are friendly because we can say hi to each other and help each other out for the most part.

Theres always good people to raise the standard and bad people to ruin the standard, but Canada has more of the Good people and a lot of inbetweens to keep the standard. Just look at the U.S. they have good people too but they have an even largeer number of bad people.

That fact that we put up with bullshit like this, as well as people like Quickite etc, is proof enough that Canadians are friendly if not incredibly tolerent.

BTW, it's Moose, not mooses.

xerxes @ Tue Aug 23, 2005 1:16 pm

So we're trying to quatify friendliness now? Like I said before, there are fiendly people and assholes everywhere. No country has a monopoly on either.

Can you imagine doing a poll around the question: Do you say hi to strangers and help them out if need be? How many people do you think would honestly answer "No, becasue I'm a dick!"

PJB @ Tue Aug 23, 2005 1:22 pm

Hoser..Gotta agree with ya..We are pretty damn tolerant to put up with fellow Canadians bitching about them there dangerous pot smoking high school students. Such violence and bad behavior..Where? Not here. Toronto maybe, Vancouver maybe,

All I say to Canadaluvv is take a heart pill bud..Canadians may have a stereotype of being nice and tolerant, well if it is true I don't really feel all that bad about it. I would rather be viewed as nice and tolerant rather than arrogant and ignorant.
