Indeed. The right to express yourself freely is beautiful, but expression for the purpose of antagonism makes a mockery of this right. I applaud their declaration.

Aggravating a situation already delicate doesn't look good on the danes . They shouldn't have to apologize but reprinting as an encore doesn't help matters . On the other hand where are the Muslims who object to terrorist and threatening attitudes amongst themselves . If I don't see opposing articals to war , written by muslims soon , I will be convinced it is all total offensive and not defensive with western cultures . This is like asking for their own destruction even euthanisms because muslims are not the greatest population of religions to be playing David and Goliath . I think the Koran needs to be seriously challenged as conseqentially as waco texas . All those who teach the 72 virgins provided for in heaven should be arrested , and if the Koran teaches such things to implement killings and suicide bombings then the Koran should be removed . It s too bad that the Koran has become such an issue because I really don't feel like reading it but if we plan to exploit its reasoning we should probably make an effort . The Danes and anyone else should probably back off but muslims had better back off for their own safety . Trading an imaginary 72 virgins for human life is not a religion at all but the demise of it .

   

So true, Banff. Islam needs to find itself a place for dialogue and not diatribe. If they've been wronged, blowing innocents to bits is no way to right those wrongs. Seems to me they could learn a lot from Gandhi (maybe the rest of us too).

   

How many other rights are you willing to put conditions on? Just because it does not fit your world view does not make it wrong. The single most important thing that freedom of expression protects is the right to utterly and completely piss me or you off.

It is not my responsibilty to give a damn if I piss someone off. It is completely their responsibility to NOT riot and burn down buildings because I said something they did not like.

Apologising for something millions have died for stinks badly and should be thrown out with the garbage.

I feel bad for you, it must hurt , and yes free speech is lacking but I am not one to ask the question what one should take seriously or not in their beliefs or what is offensive . Noone should have to apologize for what they say but to antagonize is just ignorance and looking for a fight/war. You must have loved your father and I'm sure he fought for his love for you and his country .

I think if I insulted your girlfriend wife or your children you'd quickly backpedal and maybe throw a few punches ... or she'd dump you for not sticking up for her or even worse you could be saying " YA GO AHEAD , CALL HER WHAT YOU WANT , BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT SHE REALLY IS AND DESERVES IT " So you be the judge if you like or are you one to grab onto the lame old excuse of <THAT's DIFFERENT>?

There is no question in my mind that burning down buildings will eventually lead to their own suicide whether it be on there own free will or properly induced

ok fair enough , so to answer your own reasoning what would you do in the situation that someone asked you if it was okay to insult her while ....she was standing right there .
