Won't matter the Brits are bugging out next month anyway.

-Mario- @ Wed Sep 29, 2004 4:59 am

Loosing the war on all fronts... the political front being the biggest one. The brits are not leaving, just reducing their personnel. I noticed that CNN had nothing on that. Not even in their "World" news... and Bush knew that it was a lost battle before he went in. What an idiot. I hope he doesn't stay in power. I bet that cabinet minister that called Bush a moron had grounds for it.

What you guys are missing is that Bush doesn't care whether he wins the war or not as long as he gets control of the oil and establishes a military presence in Iraq. It's a sweet deal for the oil men because it isn;t their asses on the ine and it's taxpayers' money. Consider it multi-billion dollar corprate subsidy.

The fear caused among the American people by the likelihood of increased terrorism actually works to keep Bush in power because his dimwitted cowboy stance plays to those who think that complex problems can be solved with bullets.

It's good to see that Maggie Thatcher's Bastard Son is admitting at least some errors, even though he should be admitting to wrongdoing and turning himself over to ICC for trial.

No, the breakdown is as follows:

17.8% from Saudi Arabia
16.5% from Canada
12.8% from Venezuela
12.0% from Mexico
7.5% from Nigeria

Those are the top countries. According to most sources around here, we can expect Iraq to soon top that list at 100%.

Koffi said the War in Iraq was illegal.

If anyone knows what is and isn't illegal, it would be the faultless Mr. Annan.

Why anyone even trusts the UN or expects them to be competent is beyond me.

Those articles are full of pooh eyeball and the UN is only as strong as it's more powerful members allow it to be.

The Oil for Food program was only required because The US would not allow the rest of the UN to lift economic sanctions after it became apparent it was hurting the civilians and not Saddams regime. Oil for Food was a desperate attempt at getting around the problem caused by Uhmerica.

The no-fly zones NEVER had official sanction from the UN, they were an American and British initiative. So saying Iraq violated a cease fire by firing on planes in their airspace, droping bombs on their country, is kinda, well, stupid.

Acts of aggresion against a sovern nation are VERY illegal. This includes parking a battle ship off another countries coast and firing two missles at its dictator. It is also illegal to take millitary action (the offensive kind) without the security council. That is why there is a security council. The charter is extremly clear on these points and that is what Annan is pointing out.

Not so much

The problem is that the states are trying to secure has much oil has they can... They want it all. Bush is trying to refill his oil reserve, right now, while the price is at its highest. China has increased his imports of oil by 40%. And the Russian giant is crumbling.

On another note...
Good thing we signed that NAFTA, man, because we know, we are not allowed to reduce our export of oil to them... Because that would fix the soft lumber wood dispute in a flash.
OK, No more oil for you... I knew we could find an agreement... Signed here Mr. Bush.
Another problem, what... salmon dispute, Ok... hey bush I'm cutting your import by 50%... Dispute solved...

How do we sign to F....n treaties??? My god, really, HOW... :?:

$1:

The Saudi Regime is not all that stable...part of the reason why Bush wants troops in the Gulf.
There is a growing movement in Canada to link energy exports to other trade issues.
Venezuela is not all that friendly...likely why Bush has tried to unseat theit democratically elected leader.
Mexico refused to support the US in the illegal invasion of Iraq and there is a growing populist movement there that is not USA-friendly.
Nigeria is heading towards yet another civil war that will affect production indefinitely.

If I put on a suit every morning and drove my big, fuel-sucking SUV to work at an energy dependent company, I'd be looking pretty nervous right now. I don't though...I put on a pair of jeans and drive the most fuel-efficient vehicle that it's practical for me on any given day.

PS...here's another kick in the teeth for Georgie and his gang of thugs...Russia signed Kyoto yesterday.

I had no idea, and yet not supprised that bush would do that...

I don't think that even Bush is stupid enough to think he could get away with bombing Canada, Avro. We have too many friends in too many places, some who are required to come to our aid by law. Attacking Canada would spell an end to American dominance in the world for certain.

$1:
I can think of two Canadians that would welcome them with hugs and kisses.

I can think of a few more than two...most of the Reform/Alliance/Conservatives and about half on the Liberals.
