The Brit who set Congress strait about Iraq

bootlegga @ Thu Sep 15, 2005 9:49 am

I watched him telling Congress off. Man, that was too funny. Those Us senators looked like deer in the headlights as he bitched at them. LMAO

That was a jolly good show indeed!

I really want to see that debate between him and Christopher Hitchens, who Jon Stewart made a fool out of a few weeks ago.

Oh wait, that happened yesterday

A Play by Play from The Guardian

Streaker @ Thu Sep 15, 2005 11:05 am

That was an interesting read. I completely agree with Galloway's remarks about the root causes of 9/11, but it looks like his views on that didn't go over too well in NYC!

xerxes @ Thu Sep 15, 2005 11:10 am

I don't know about that. From my reading it sounds as though it was pretty partisan crowd split either way. If anything soured the crowd on him it was his defences of the insurgents in Iraq.

$1:
I told the world that Iraq, contrary to your claims did not have weapons of mass destruction.

I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to al-Qaeda.

I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to the atrocity on 9/11 2001.

I told the world, contrary to your claims, that the Iraqi people would resist a British and American invasion of their country and that the fall of Baghdad would not be the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.

Senator, in everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 people paid with their lives; 1600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies; 15,000 of them wounded, many of them disabled forever on a pack of lies.

Brilliant testimony. I imagine I'll buy that book. Certainly took those arrogant Inquisitors down a notch. Politics in England is a blood sport, especially from Mr. Galloway's neck of the woods. Someone should have warned the Amercians about this, but I'm kind of glad no one did.

I was just referring to this bit here:
$1:
But Mr Galloway hit the wrong note with his comments on September 11. "You may think that those aeroplanes in this city on 9/11 came out of a clear, blue sky. I believe they emerged out of a swamp of hatred created by us." A crescendo of booing cut him off as he continued to speak, and Mr Hitchens commented: "Mr Galloway, you picked the wrong city to say that in, and arguably the wrong month, as well."

Booing aside, I think Galloway hit the nail on the head. Too bad the audience wasn't receptive to the truth.

Galloway/Hitchens Debate now posted(right hand side of page)
A most excellent debate of the pro and the cons of this debacle. I highly recommend it!

Scape @ Sun Sep 18, 2005 2:07 am

Hitchens trashed Juan Cole's credentials during the debate. Cole responded in his blog.

Hitchens, Galloway and Cole

hwacker @ Fri Sep 23, 2005 8:56 pm

Mr Galloway got his ass handed to him by Christopher Hitchens tonight on Bill Mayer's Real Time.

He should go back to England cause sure can't fight on TV here. What a disgrace he is.

xerxes @ Sat Sep 24, 2005 10:22 am

Perhaps you missed Hitchens' snotty accent as well? They can share the same plane ride.

no i caught it, Hitchens is alot more American then some born there.

And what are you implying about people with English accents?

xerxes @ Sat Sep 24, 2005 11:13 am

Nothing. But Hitchens takes his accent to snotty and patronizing heights.
