Hello RH and all. I'm just back to post a short note about something that happened yeaterday.
My wife and I went down to the UN Cemetary here in Busan, S.Korea as a commeration to the Canadian soldiers who gave their lives. After looking at all the marked graves and reading In Flanders Fields, we went down to a section that we didn't know about. We learned that it was for unknown soldiers.
In front of the Canadian graves, there is a lovely statue memorial by a Korean sculpturer of a hatless Canadian soldier, holding a small boy with his left hand and carrying a small girl on his right soldier. The explanation says that the soldier was hatless to show the informality the Canadian soldiers enjoyed and shared in Korea. The boy and girl are each holding 21 maple leafs to represent each of the 21 unknown Canadian soldiers buried at the spot.
This statue was erected on Nov. 11, 2001. It is important to remember who we are and why we are.

RH, you seem to be an intelligent person and well-read on canada-us relations. i was wondering if you happened to come across the national review from a few weeks ago. i believe the cover was: WIMPS (showing the rcmp). just asking your thoughts if so. here's a link to an article about the aforementioned article (sorry, i couldn't access the original online) http://www.nationalreview.com/frum/diary112102.asp
