It's easy. Just don't drive too far south.
The last time I was over the line was in 1999 and that was for a specific trip. Then 9/11 happened and everything became more complicated and continues to get worse. I haven't had the urge to go over the line again and I live less than an hour drive to the border.

And this policy isn't new. I've had nothing but problems crossing since I get a ticket for smoking weed back in university.
So I just don't bother.
