Smart move. With oil prices as unstable as they are now, small developing countries can budget costs and American corpoations can look to expanding in south america. This could rock the boat a bit with the Saudi's no longer in control of America's thirst for oil.

"The new arrangements were not universally welcomed by the oil companies. Exxon Mobil and the Italian energy company Eni have refused to sign up to the new arrangements."

of coarse they won't sign, they wouldn't be able to screw the consumer like they are doing now!

but i think $35 would be a fair price for oil myself.

Shure!.. But weren't the U.S just about to stage another coup against Chaves? And weren't Chaves about to exclude the U.S from this oil frenzy?

That being said, Northern Canada has one of the biggest deposits on earth, the only problem though is encased in sand. I believe Shell is looking to find a solution to extracting the crude from the sand somehow. But this could of only been done with gasoline prices being as high as they are. Otherwise it would not be worth the effort and cost to develop this reserve.
